The Kansas City Chiefs have sanctioned the biggest trade of the offseason so far as L’Jarius Sneed enters Nashville.
Kansas City Chiefs will be without their star cornerback next season.
Sneed has signed a four-year deal worth $76 million, including $55 million guaranteed.
He becomes one of the highest-paid defensive backs in the NFL.
Sneed and Jones needed new deals
Kansas City entered the offseason debacle knowing that both Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed are looking to be paid.
The defensive interior lineman is the one who has received the pay cheque.
He signed a five-year deal becoming the highest ever paid in his position and will retire in Missouri.
Although, the Chiefs refused to let Sneed walk away without compensation.
Therefore, he was given the non-exclusive franchise tag and was traded to the Tennessee Titans.

This was a critical decision in the Chiefs offseason and they chose to stick with Jones, knowing they would have to part ways with one of them.
With limited cap space, it would have been a challenge to accommodate both.
Sneed deserved to be paid handsomely and now has that financial security that the Chiefs could not provide.
Kansas City made the best decision
But was this the right decision?
Ultimately yes, they have kept their best defensive star and received draft capital for another.
The last major trade the Chiefs front office oversaw was Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
Hill was looking for a multi-million-dollar deal and became the highest-paid wide receiver – and still is.
Brett Veach was not comfortable with paying Hill what he demanded and the Dolphins were willing.
On reflection the trade worked perfectly, they did not sacrifice mega-cap space, received valuable draft picks, and, more importantly, have won two Super Bowls without Hill.
McDuffie can replace Sneed
One of the players the Chiefs selected, with the trade picks, was talented youngster Trent McDuffie.
Ironically, McDuffie is the player journalists are suggesting as filling in for Sneed.
Additionally, the 23-year-old is already a First-Team All-Pro and has two rings under his belt.
Sneed never received the All-Pro call-up; the Chiefs are in safe hands.
Brett Veach and his staff have earned their trust over the recent decision.
History will tell us the Chiefs will make excellent use of the trade picks.
