It has been two years since the explosive wideout man left the Kansas City Chiefs in a dynamic trade in the offseason.
The ‘Cheetah’ was a revelation for the Chiefs, as his pure speed and catching ability on the run was a recipe for success.
In his rookie year, Andy Reid was unsure of the best way to use Tyreek Hill.
The 2016 NFL rookie was used as a dual-threat, running back and a wide receiver.

Tyreek Hill’s development
The following year, Hill was utilized as a receiver on a more frequent basis.
After six seasons in the City of Kansas, Hill became one of the more notorious names in the league.
Testament to his ability, Hill scored a season-long 75+ yard touchdowns in four separate seasons with the Chiefs.
However, the two parted ways in a trade that saw the Chiefs receive five draft picks, four in the 2022 draft and one in the 2023 draft.
The eight-time Pro Bowler – made one every single season so far – moved down south to the Sunshine State of Florida, taking residence in Miami.
Hill recently spoke about his time at the Chiefs and why he was very enthusiastic about the trade to the Miami Dolphins.
Tyreek Hill wanted to be a brand
Speaking to Ryan Clark on The Pivot Podcast, Hill discussed his decision to leave Kansas City: “It was a family decision man, it was one of those, what’s going to be the better long-term situation for my family, really all of us.
“We looked at it as far as like, if we go to Miami, it’s going to be a new community obviously, and you’re looking into getting into the whole brand space.
The energetic playmaker went on to explain how being a brand himself was a crucial decision: “The brand space in KC is already taken over, let’s be real, Pat, Kelce, they already took that over.
“So, you gotta look at it as an aspect of, OK, while you’re playing, and after you’re done playing, is there a certain area or space you want to take over, and I was like yo, Miami’s perfect, I got family in Miami and there are so many opportunities in Miami, especially if we start winning.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce taking up the spotlight played a part in ambitious Hill’s choice to leave, he implies.
The Dolphins star did not shy away from the money orientation around the decision.
Becoming highest-paid receiver
In the trade, Hill was guaranteed to become the highest-paid receiver and reset the market.
The five-time First-Team All-Pro was ecstatic when he found this out: “The money was already good, once they said highest-paid receiver, I was like ‘lock that in’, let’s look at the off-field situation.”
It was hard for the Georgia native to leave behind his team, he had won the Super Bowl in 2019 with the Chiefs.
Hill does not regret leaving but is emotional about his departure: “It was tough leaving what we had started in Kansas City and how special it was.”
The Chiefs and the Dolphins met on the Wildcard weekend and Hill’s return to Arrowhead Stadium was a bitter loss.
Tyreek Hill now has his eyes firmly set on his career in Miami and is looking to taste Super Bowl victory once again.
