So the mysterious question of whether or not L’Jarius Sneed would stay with the Chiefs has been answered.

The Kansas City Chiefs have traded L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans for a third-round pick in the 2025 Draft and a pick swap in the seventh-round of this year’s Draft. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news.

The cornerback had been placed on the franchise tag and Kansas City allowed that he could go after a trade.

Sneed’s departure means that KC has freed up $19.8 million on the salary cap – conforming to Over The Cap, this money plus what the team already had leaves the Chiefs with a total of $27.4 million to use in this offseason. That is a big opportunity to strengthen the team.

According to insider Jordan Schultz, the CB’s contract is set for four years and worth $76 million, with $55 million fully guaranteed. He will become one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the history of the league.

New chapter for a young two-time champion

The 27-year-old cornerback is already arguably one of the best in the NFL today.

In four seasons, including the playoffs, he’s played in 67 games, defended 47 passes, had 11 interceptions, 15 QB hits and 8.5 tackles.

It’s worth remembering the role he played in a very important play in the AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens. Sneed blocked the ball from Zay Flowers just before it crossed the goal line, causing KC to recover the fumble in the end zone. The cornerback was matched up against Zay Flowers 21 times during the game.

Trent McDuffie should take over the starting job in the Chiefs’ secondary.

In the new chapter of Sneed’s career, he will be joining a promising team, with the likes of Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard.
