There is good news for the Kansas City Chiefs with terms agreed on a contract extension for Chris Jones.
Ever since the Super Bowl, there has been concern over whether the Kansas City Chiefs would be able to bring back star defensive player Chris Jones.
Jones had been labelled the Chiefs’ biggest priority, amid placing the franchise tag on L’Jarius Sneed, and there was talk of how other teams might make a play to sign the impending free agent.
The Chiefs just don’t have a player quite like Chris Jones, and the team have recognised this, deciding to pay up and extend him to a new deal.

Chris Jones signs new deal
Chris Jones has made the decision to re-sign with Kansas City before the free agency frenzy begins.
NFL.com reported the deal, with Jones committing for five years, during which he is set to receive $95 million guaranteed.
The final and full agreement will see Jones surpass Aaron Donald as the league’s highest paid defensive end.
Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs teammates react
There has been a very positive reaction to Chris Jones’ decision to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jones made clear he is coming back to attempt the three-peat, writing on X: “KC….5 more years of greatness! 3x”
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes re-tweeted Jones’ post, and also posted a big smiley-face on X in response to Jones’ post hinting he was about to put pen to paper on the deal.
Ahead of the weekend, Kansas City re-signed linebacker Drue Tranquill, a move which also brought a very positive response from star tight end Travis Kelce.
It’s clear the Chiefs are gearing up to go again and defend their title, and the deal for Jones shows this defense intends on staying dominant for a long time.
