Kansas City has been making bold moves in the offseason window and tagging their star cornerback is one of their first decisions.

Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed have been at the forefront of the Chiefs’ minds since the victorious conclusion at Super Bowl LVIII.

Although they are the reigning world champions, the Chiefs still have their off-field problems to deal with like everyone else.

Contract headaches

Both Chris Jones and Sneed’s contracts were expiring and both were set to hit free agency.

The latter got tagged meaning Jones will hit free agency if he does not agree to a new deal.

Sneed has been placed under the ‘non-exclusive franchise tag’ which means he is now open to the talk with other teams and agree a trade.

At the 2024 NFL Combine, head coach Andy Reid expressed the desire to have both defensive players playing for the franchise in 2024 but it seems unlikely.

Patrick Mahomes and the crew have confidently said the ‘three-peat’ is on the wish list.

The defensive unit of the Chiefs was the side of the ball which was the most consistent and kept the team in games.

They were the first youngest defense in the league to go on and win the Vince Lombardi Trophy the same season.

Sneed is up for grabs

Sneed was an imperative cog in the well-oiled machine.

Now, the 27-year-old has become a high-valued trade asset for Brett Veach and the Chiefs front office.

Many teams are reported to be interested like the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, and many more.

According to NBC’s Pro Football Talk, seven teams are interested in the two-time Super Bowl champion.

Sneed took to X for the first time since the tagging development to send a clear message.

He posted: “Still learning, still growing, still dreaming, still going!

The Louisiana native seems to be looking into the future instead of behind him.

Numerous fans are hopeful that Sneed will be a Chief by the 2024 season.

There is a possibility but it seems that the franchise has already shown their cards.

Being the best defensive back trade option, several ambitious teams will be gearing up to propose their best offers.
