The Dallas Cowboys are flirting with the idea of letting Dak Prescott play out his contract year, which could tempt him to test the free agency market in 2025.

Dak Prescott has all the reasons to try and negotiate the best deal in 2025 and that could be with another franchise.

After concluding the regular season as the MVP runner-up, it has caught many people by surprise that he has not received an extension.

Jerry Jones is hesitant about an extension after disastrous postseason results

Jerry Jones is not satisfied with the postseason results during the 30-year-old’s tenure, meaning he could make him play for a record-breaking deal in 2024.

Numbers have been floated about in the NFL world, and despite Jared Goff signing a $53 million APY extension, Prescott could be eyeing up a possible $60 million.

Detroit Lions v Dallas Cowboys

Former Cowboys star Emmanuel Acho, recently stated that there is ‘no better time’ for the Cowboys signal-caller to refrain from signing a deal if proposed one.

Prescott will be the most in-demand quarterback come 2025 free agency, as things stand.

Prescott has the motivation to test free agency in 2025 and the Cowboys may rebuild

Teams across the league will be keeping a close eye on the situation as it unfolds in the coming months, as they could be lurking in the shadows for his signature.

Moreover, there is a possibility that the Cowboys could be heading into the 2025 preseason with a new quarterback at the helm.

This could become a problem for America’s Team with both their backup QBs heading into contract years.

Trey Lance and Cooper Rush are set to battle it out in camp for the responsibility of serving as second-string to Prescott.

However, the duo could look for new opportunities next year, meaning a rebuild could be on the cards.

NFL expert is fearful about the Dallas Cowboys’ unresolved situation with Dak Prescott

On ESPN, the crew spoke about the unresolved situation with Dak Prescott and what the future could hold.

NFL expert Tim Hasselbeck sent a warning in the Cowboys’ direction if they do not extend the three-time Pro Bowler.

“It’s not going to be cheap because of the situation you’ve put yourself in. Okay, well, he might become available to the rest of the league that is in need of a quarterback,” Hasselbeck explained on ESPN.

“Where are you going? What are you doing if you’re the Dallas Cowboys and he’s not your guy? You’re going to be too good to be drafting at the top. So, be careful how much you want to play this out.”

America’s Team is to good to draft high in the 2025 NFL Draft

The NFL expert is right to suggest that their regular season record will be impressive enough that they will not be drafting high in the 2025 NFL Draft.

America’s Team has completed three seasons in a row finishing with 12 plus wins under their belt.

Therefore, the team will be in a dangerous situation, especially with next year’s draft class for QBs being very weak.
