The 2024 NFL season has barely started and the rumors are already swirling.
Tempers seem to be calmer inside the Dallas Cowboys organization ever since the team reached a consensus with Dak Prescott.
From the outside, journalists and fans are buzzing about the possibility of the quarterback becoming a free-agent in 2025.
That said, the predictions have already begun: which teams might go after Prescott if he’s no longer a Cowboy next season?
In the latest edition of The Rich Eisen Show, the sportscaster jokingly listed his top-5 teams that would definitely try to bring Dak Prescott into their rosters.
Before starting his ranking, he pointed out his indignation at the fact that Jerry Jones’ franchise hasn’t given the QB a new contract.
“What the Cowboys are doing right now is fire playing – and totally nuts. But they wanna go ‘all-in’ on Dak, and I didn’t understand this definition of ‘all-in.”
“I think they need to be ‘all-in’ on talking about a conversation with Dak to extend him.”

Here’s Rich Eisen’s Top-5:
5. Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith will have a $13 million dead cap in 2025 if the team doesn’t want to keep him. According to Eisen: “That’s a chump change”.
If they don’t draft a quarterback this year, Prescott could be a possibility on the roster. That’s because the franchise doesn’t seem as confident with Geno Smith being a signal-caller in the long term.
4. Las Vegas Raiders
“Why not? Aidan O’Connell is their starting quarterback and they don’t go ahead and get, you know, Gardner’s out there, I know they got him for two years.”
“But if Aidan is not the guy and Gardner doesn’t seem to be the guy… Dak Prescott sitting right there, very easy to go ‘all-in’ on Dak and let him finish his career out there.”
The Raiders’ projected cap space could exceed $73 million next year and it could make sense to bring in a big-name player to give the AFC a greater push.
3. Denver Broncos
“The dead cap for the Denver Broncos on Russell Wilson next year is $32 million bucks. That’s a lot, and then you add Dak on top of it it’s something they can handle – absolutely.”
“If they don’t go ahead and get a quarterback in this year’s Draft… I think they’re in on him.”
Also with a lot of money in cap space in 2025, the Broncos could go after a QB who really sticks with the team. The No. 12 overall pick doesn’t seem like a good spot to draft a quarterback, but there’s no telling what could happen between now and then.
2. New York Jets
“Name me a team which it would be more on brand to go ahead and take somebody else’s starting quarterback and then just take a massive dead cap hit of their own just because it hasn’t worked out.”
“I know the dead cap for Aaron Rodgers would be $49 million if he’s not their starting quarteback in 2025 – this is so on brand for the Jets to bring Dak, but if the Jets aren’t that team…”
Rodgers will turn 41 in 2024 and it’s not known whether this will be the last season of his career, especially coming back from an Achilles tendon injury.
1. New York Giants
“The $22 million dead cap hit for this guy in 2025 makes it totally and completely understandable.”
“If they don’t get a quarterback in this year’s Draft for the New York Giants to tell Dak Prescott ‘you’re a Giant, you’re not a Cowboy anymore’, if he does have any sense of wanting to stick it to the Jones’ family, that’s the way to do it.”
What the Giants do in this year’s Draft might have an important bearing on the QB position for next season.
