‘Jerry’s had enough’… Rich Eisen highlights the key thing that Prescott must do to earn an extension

The Dallas Cowboys are looking at the real possibility that Dak Prescott may not be their quarterback in 2025.

Ian Rapoport suggested on X: “There is no indication a deal is coming.”

The NFL Insider has indicated that Jerry Jones will be making Prescott play out the remaining year of his contract.

Prescott could test free agency in 2025

Then the free agency market awaits the 30-year-old.

Moreover, Prescott cannot be tagged or traded as agreed in his contract, so he will hit the open market.

Understandably, the owner is disgruntled by the lack of playoff success with no Super Bowl appearances in nearly three decades.

Prescott does not boast a pleasing postseason record, managing just two wins in 8 years.

Nevertheless, the quarterback produced his best numbers in eight seasons and finished second in the MVP voting.

But a disastrous playoff exit to the Green Bay Packers means Jones has lost patience.

Therefore, Prescott will play out the rest of his deal with an uncertain future.

Prescott was rumored to play out his deal

Rich Eisen said one rumor he heard from the NFL Combine was Jones was planning to make Prescott play out his deal.

Lowing behold this has turned out to be true and Eisen was ‘gobsmacked’.

The presenter has addressed the recent revelation of Prescott hitting the open market come 2025.

Eisen states he sees the view from the fans and Jerry’s standpoint: “I understand some folks out there are like, ‘Dak has not proved it in January, he hasn’t even played a single game in February yet’.

“So, Jerry’s had enough of it and he is going to make him do it, the ‘it’ being go play into February if you want your money here.”

Seemingly, Jones cannot justify paying an extortionate amount of money without having nothing in return.

For Prescott to earn the value he wants, he must reach the Super Bowl.

The problem is, through this method, the front office has created problems.

With the limited money at their disposal, there has been just one outside free agent signing.

‘Turn the heat up’

Eisen describes the situation as: “We’re gonna take the lid and put it on top of the boiling pot and we’re gonna turn the heat up and that is gonna be the way we get better results.”

Ultimately, Jerry Jones is fighting fire with fire and has ramped the pressure up on everyone.

Maybe he thinks tough love is the best choice or does he think the threat of money will get the best results?
