The Dallas Cowboys still have not addressed their lingering contractual problems with their key players and one former player cannot see any reason for Dak Prescott to sign an extension if presented one.
Jerry Jones has brushed Dak Prescott’s contract aside and now has his hands tied because of the overwhelming leverage the signal-caller holds.
Prescott is entering the final year of his deal, and despite Stephen Jones saying an extension is a priority, the two parties have not taken a seat at the negotiation table.
In addition, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has highlighted his dissatisfaction with his situation as he holds out from training camp.
Dak Prescott and Jerry Jones still holdout from contract extension talks
Prescott is looking for his second massive pay-day in Dallas after signing a blockbuster deal back in 2021.
Furthermore, the no-franchise tag and no-trade clause have corned the Cowboys front office into an unfavorable position.

Prescott will hit free agency next year and will have the pick of numerous suitors who would be interested in an All-Pro quarterback.
Deals of this magnitude will take time but there has been no dialogue between the player’s agent and franchise post the NFL Draft.
Emmanuel Acho backs Prescott to get the most money in the 2025 free agency
One NFL panelist, Emmanuel Acho cannot see why Prescott would sign a new deal. On the daytime show Speak, he said: “I don’t know if Dak should want to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, right here right now.
“We talk about players not wanting to get into the final year of their deal…because they want the future of the guarantee present and locked in.
“There is no better time to make the most money when hitting free agency, free agency is a godsend for players. Often players can’t get to free agency.”
The former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker believes Prescott should take the chance to test the open market. There is no better opportunity to try and make the most money during free agency because the market does the talking.
Kirk Cousins has set the minimum that Prescott will be paid next year
Prescott has all the leverage and can earn a career-high salary, especially after Kirk Cousins signed a four-year $180 million deal in free agency with the Atlanta Falcons.
Moreover, he secured this mouth-watering money coming off a season-ending ACL tear at 35 years old.
Therefore, Prescott has all the motivation to try and earn a huge payday in guaranteed money next year.
Per Stephen Jones, it seems that Prescott is set to be offered a new deal but when is a different story.
America’s Team has a history of sitting on important deals and not addressing them earlier before the market increases.
Despite the future looking unclear for the 30-year-old in Dallas, he will understand and consider the riches that lie in free agency.
