Dak Prescott’s contract extension continues to remain a mystery for America’s Team with neither party approaching the negotiation table as of yet.
Most analysts assumed that the 30-year-old would be offered a new deal before the rush of free agency. This would have meant the Dallas Cowboys could have restructured Dak Prescott’s new contract and opened up further money on the cap.
Moreover, Jerry Jones stated that the front office would be ‘all in’, supporting the idea that Prescott looked set to earn a fresh cheque.
However, matters have seemingly been blown off course and the 81-year-old owner could make Prescott play out his contract.
Mike McCarthy set for his final year as the Dallas Cowboys head coach
In addition to the Cowboys signal-caller, head coach Mike McCarthy is approaching a contract year.
The Super LXV winning head coach signed a five-year deal with the Cowboys in 2020 after leaving the Green Bay Packers.

Being an offensive and quarterback specialist, McCarthy has managed to guide Prescott to his most successful season since his 2016 rookie year.
Last year, the 60-year-old called the plays and led the Cowboys to be one of the best offenses in the league.
Mike McCarthy managed to elevate Prescott and Lamb to be the best in the league
Prescott threw the most touchdowns in the league (36) and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb hauled in the most receptions of any player in his position (135).
Even in the playoffs, when they were dumped out by the Packers, the offense still managed to produce 510 yards.
McCarthy has managed to get the best version out of his quarterback but failed to find the recipe in the playoffs.
NFL Insider says the Cowboys coaching staff ‘love’ Prescott ‘as a person’
On the Rich Eisen Show, Tom Pelissero spoke about what the Cowboys coaching staff honestly thinks about Dak Prescott, amid his future uncertainty.
“I know how the coaching staff feel about Dak in that building, he is the hardest worker, he is the one that everyone rallies around, [and] they love him as a person,” the NFL Insider explained.
“Last year, Mike McCarthy calling the plays was Dak’s best season.”
From his internal sources, the Cowboys’ coaching staff loves Dak Prescott as a football player and as a person.
Prescott and McCarthy must deliver in the postseason to continue their partnership in 2025
If the coaching staff were not approaching a contract year as well, then there would be a strong chance Prescott would have been extended by now.
Jerry Jones could be preparing the franchise for a massive rebuild in 2025 if the key pillars cannot deliver the success he desires.
Nonetheless, the partnership of McCarthy and Prescott is set in place for one more season. Cowboy Nation will hope they can replicate their chemistry and finally break their postseason curse.
