Enough is enough, and it’s time for a change.
That’s the message from Dallas Cowboys fans on X after a promising season ended Sunday with a disappointing 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
It was the first Cowboys loss at AT&T Stadium in 490 days when Tom Brady and the Bucs beat them 19-3 in the 2022 regular season opener.
Before the game against Green Bay was even over, Dallas fans called on Jerry Jones to dismiss Mike McCarthy and bring in Bill Belichick.
Belichick and the Patriots mutually agreed to part ways on January 11 after 24 seasons in charge, the longest-serving coach at the time of that announcement.
Although his last two seasons in Greater Boston were rough, Belichick has the resume an owner like Jerry Jones covets.
Belichick guided the Pats to six Super Bowls, 17 AFC East titles, nine trips to the Super Bowl and 13 visits to the conference championship game.
Final Nail in His Coffin
It’s completely understandable to see the kind of reaction from fans after Sunday’s showing.
Everything looked a little off for America’s Team against Green Bay.
After such a disastrous performance, it’s easy to forget McCarthy’s achievements as Cowboys head coach.
The former Super Bowl winner has racked up a combined 36 regular season victories in his last three seasons.
That’s the best three-year stretch for a Dallas coach since Jimmy Johnson (36 from 1991-93).
McCarthy deserves credit if you examine the Cowboys’ offensive body of work.
Taking over the offensive play-calling duties in 2023, Dak Prescott led the league in touchdown passes (36), while CeeDee Lamb set franchise receiving records and wound up second in receiving yards (1,749).
On Sunday, though, Lamb, Prescott, and the offense didn’t look right, with Dak throwing for fewer than 100 yards in the opening half and Lamb with just two catches on seven targets over that span.
Whether he likes it or not, McCarthy deserves a good chunk of the blame for Sunday’s poor showing.

Taking nothing away from the Packers, but McCarthy rarely took shots down the field to test their secondary.
That’s shocking, given they were facing one of the worst cover games in the NFL.
McCarthy lacked aggression and went away from this team’s bread and butter, inexplicably running more than throwing on first down in the opening half.
Win Now Mode
Adding Bill Belichick makes a lot of sense right now.
He’s available, as is his offensive guru Josh McDaniels.
For as bad as McDaniels was as Raiders’ head coach, he’s worked hand in hand with Belichick in the past and was the leader of the well-oiled Pats’ offensive machine that
McCarthy still has a year left on his contract, but Dallas needs a new face to take them to the next level.
Belichick has climbed the mountain repeatedly and is still hungry to coach and win.
You can also bet he’d be highly motivated to show he’s still got it while also outshining one of his mentors, Bill Parcels, by doing something he couldn’t do: lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl.
