The Kansas City Chiefs are set on throwing the ball deep in 2024 and they made it their mission to land University of Texas project Xavier Worthy in the NFL Draft.

Xavier Worthy set the NFL Combine on fire when he set the all-time 40-yard dash record with a 4.21 in Indianapolis.

This raised eyebrows and his draft value increased exponentially, and he would have moved up various franchise’s draft boards.

Kansas City makes sure to add deep-threat weapons in the offseason with Brown being snatched up

After an all-time low deep threat in 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs added Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown from free agency.

Since the departure of Tyreek Hill, the franchise has lacked a reliable outlet for Patrick Mahomes downfield.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney were potential successors to the void left by Hill but no one has ventured close to the level once hoped.

Xavier Worthy arrives as a lean wide receiver out of Texas and the Chiefs were desperate to land the talent in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Buffalo Bills receive backlash because of their peculiar decision to trade with the Chiefs

The franchise sanctioned a trade with their AFC rival of late the Buffalo Bills: the Chiefs moved up from pick #32 to pick #28.

Information surfaced that the New England Patriots were in ‘high-speed pursuit’ of the 21-year-old but the Chiefs offered a more favorable deal.

The Bills received a backlash from their fans and media over trading with a direct rival, it was not long ago that the franchise told Stefon Diggs he could seek a trade with anyone but the Chiefs.

Furthermore, the Bills needed a wide receiver of their own and Worthy would have been an excellent selection.

Former NFL star believes the Bills have made the wrong decision not drafting Xavier Worthy

The Bills selected receiver Keon Coleman on the second day to add to their receiver core but former wide receiver Plaxico Burress believes they missed an opportunity.

“With all due respect, Keon Coleman was a Michigan State guy before he transferred to Florida State, but if you’re the Buffalo Bills and you are starring at Xavier Worthy with everything he done at Texas State College, and you give Kansas City the trade and they get Xavier Worthy, and I would say he is a better wide receiver than Keon Coleman,” he explained via the Craig Carton Show.

Buress believes that Worthy is a better receiver than Keon Coleman and the Buffalo Bills should have taken the receiver instead.

Bills add ex-Chief Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the open market

In addition, the Bills have picked up former Chiefs receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling whose hiccups on offense forced the Chiefs to cut him.

Now, the Bills have picked up their rivals dead weight and missed out on Worthy who will add a new dynamic to the Chiefs offense.

Bills GM Brandon Beane articulated why the franchise thought it was a good idea to finalize a trade with the Chiefs, with draft capital being a key feature.

Worthy and Coleman are getting to grips with their new lives, with the Chiefs star dealing with an early hamstring setback in the OTAs.
