The Kansas City Chiefs were overjoyed when they landed their number-one target Xavier Worthy in the NFL Draft but this would not have pleased one team in the AFC.
On the first day of the highly anticipated NFL Draft, the Chiefs stole the show when they chose history-maker Xavier Worthy.
Worthy set the 40-yard dash record when he posted a 4.21 at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Buffalo agrees to surprising trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for Xavier Worthy
The Kansas City Chiefs managed to steal the Texas Longhorn rookie off the board via a trade with the Buffalo Bills.
Moreover, fans around the league and portions of the media were stunned by the Bills’ willingness to entertain a trade with the Chiefs.

Only weeks before, the Bills had told Stefon Diggs he could pursue a trade with anyone but the Chiefs.
Eventually, he landed at the Houston Texans but the stipulation to not talk to the Chiefs was telling.
Furthermore, the Chiefs have had Josh Allen and the Bills’ number since the emergence of Patrick Mahomes.
The Bills endured a bitter loss against the Chiefs again in the playoffs
Buffalo did manage to earn a victory at Arrowhead in the regular season after a calamitous offside penalty by Kadarius Toney ruled out a game-winning touchdown.
However, the Chiefs got their revenge in the more important AFC Divisional playoff round.
The Bills decided to let Worthy fall into the Chiefs’ lap and they were heavily criticized for their decision.
So much so that Bills GM Brandon Beane was forced to address the issue of the Pat McAfee show.
Michael Lombardi reveals that the Bills could of agreed to a trade with another franchise
However, Super Bowl-winning coach Michael Lombardi spoke about the trade and revealed that the New England Patriots were desperate for Xavier Worthy.
“They (Bills) had an opportunity to take a deal from New England. New England was in high-speed pursuit of Worthy,” Lombardi explained via the Pat McAfee show.
“They wanted Worthy badly. They were making calls to make that pick and Buffalo had them on the phone and so was Kansas City. “
The Kansas City Chiefs offered more than the New England Patriots which persuaded the Bills to make a deal with them, per Lombardi.
Furthermore, Lombardi could not understand why the Bills would be sanctioning a move that would help the Chiefs get stronger.
Patrick Mahomes now has a potential solution to the absence of Tyreek Hill
Patrick Mahomes has lacked a productive deep threat since the departure of Tyreek Hill in 2022.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore were talents that could have filled the void but neither lived up to expectations.
Therefore, the Chiefs have added free agent Marquise Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy to the roster.
The three-time Super Bowl-winning MVP Mahomes believes the team is built to throw deep in 2024.
Buffalo could have helped the Chiefs get stronger and may regret the decision if Worthy lives up to the expectations.
Worthy would be less of a threat on the Patriots roster than on the Chiefs, when competing for the AFC crown.
