America’s Team has discovered their road map for the 2024 NFL season but controversy still looms over the futures of key figures within the franchise.

The Dallas Cowboys will be opening up their season on the road against the Cleveland Browns, which is labeled one of the ‘toughest places’ to be. Dak Prescott and his team will not be welcomed with open arms to a sold-out ‘Dawg Pound’ in Cleveland.

Jerry Jones keeps his checkbook closed with crucial extensions looming

Jerry Jones has been at the center of attention during the NFL offseason and not for good reasons. Refusing to extend his franchise quarterback started the offseason negativity snowball.

Moreover, the Cowboys have not extended star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb who holdouts from the franchise OTAs to leverage a new deal.

The front office allowed key starters to walk out the door and land in free agency. So, the team has drafted rookies like Tyler Guyton, Cooper Beebe, and Marshawn Kneeland to supplement their roster.

The media and fans have questioned Jones’ offseason methods and approaches. For the 2024 season, the Cowboys will start with Mike McCarthy in a contract year and Prescott could follow suit.

Ryan Clark predicts when Mike McCarthy will be fired during the 2024 season

On ESPN, Stephen A. Smith talked about the ‘all out’ Cowboys and how they should not be confident heading into the new season.

Fellow contributor Ryan Clark predicted when Smith would be speaking about the firing of Mike McCarthy.

“That stretch of the season, when you talked about it being in the middle, that’s when it’s all gonna come to a head. That’s when you’re gonna have to show up here one morning in your southern Steph hat with your cigar and talk about the fact Mike McCarthy just got fired,” Clark said via ESPN.

“Then you’re gonna be bringing on Adam Schefter to talk about what are possible landing spots for Dak Prescott in the offseason.”

Clark can see the Dallas Cowboys head coach being dismissed by Jerry Jones during the middle of the season, highlighting the year he thinks they will endure.

Prescott and McCarthy may be dismissed with a huge cleanout in 2025

This season is one of the most important in the franchise’s history because they may have a full rebuild in 2025.

For McCarthy and Prescott to be offered new deals, it seems universally agreed they must reach the NFC Championship.

The 30-year-old is heading into his ninth season as the Cowboy’s signal-caller after replacing the injured Tony Romo.

Ultimately, Jerry Jones’ patience has reached rock bottom and both key figures may pay the price in 2025.

In our Cowboys 2024 season prediction, we have the team finishing with a record 9-8, which may scrap them into the playoffs.
