The Dallas Cowboys were busy building their trenches during the NFL Draft and one rookie has taken inspiration from one Cowboys legend.

When on the clock with the 24th overall pick of the NFL Draft, Jerry Jones decided to trade back with the Detroit Lions.

This moved them back to pick #29 but they earned an extra pick in the third-round paving the way for one of the most athletic offensive linemen in his class.

Cooper Beebe is open to playing as the starting center for the Cowboys

Cooper Beebe was selected with the 73rd overall pick out of Kansas State and the front office was attracted to his versatility.

Moreover, the 22-year-old has played guard and tackle on the Kansas State O-Line but not center.

However, reports have suggested he has been practicing to play center behind the scenes in college.

After the loss of Tyler Biadasz to free agency, Beebe is anticipated to be a Day 1 starter to snap the ball to Dak Prescott.

He will line up alongside the rookie taken in the first round for the Dallas Cowboys Tyler Guyton.

Beebe has shaped his game around a Cowboys legend

On the other side, one of his biggest football inspirations will be taking a position to the right of him.

Cowboys legend Zack Martin will share the offensive line with a player who has shaped his game around the seven-time First-Team All-Pro.

“That’s a great question. One of the dudes that I’ve always looked up to is Zack Martin. He’s a guy that I really try to model my game after,” Beebe said when questioned about his NFL comparison.

Beebe proceeded to say: “He’s a super smart football player. He’s very physical. He plays with great technique. He finishes his blocks by punishing defenders.

“I try to model my game after him. If I had to give a comparison, it would probably be Zack Martin.”

The Cowboys’ new center mentioned the inspiration Zack Martin has had upon him during his interview at the Senior Bowl.

Zach Martin can mentor the new rookies Beebe and Guyton

Furthermore, this draft selection offers a great chance for Martin to leave a lasting legacy by mentoring Beebe.

The Dallas offensive trench is now stacked with explosive talent upfront, Guyton and Beebe will be desperate to make instant impacts as starters.

Terrence Steele will also be lining up at right tackle to complete a super-talented offensive line to guard protect and give Ezekiel Elliott channels in the running game.
