The Dallas Cowboys have drafted a Kansas State rookie offensive lineman and addressed an important roster issue.
Read all about the rookie profile of America’s Team’s latest selection.
Position
The Dallas Cowboys have drafted their starting center for the 2024 season in Cooper Beebe.
Although he has not played a snap in the role, it has been confirmed that the offensive lineman has been working on the position and has a natural ability there.
Moreover, the 22-year-old is a hybrid offensive lineman who has played guard and tackle during his college career.
Draft pick number
Beebe got the call from the Dallas Cowboys on Day Two of the NFL Draft with the #73rd overall pick.
Jerry Jones managed to trade back in the opening round with the Detroit Lions which saw him earn an extra pick in the third round.
Therefore, Beebe was selected with that additional pick.
Combine results
Beebe produced exceptional NFL Combine results during his talent show in Indianapolis.
Next Gen Stats posted the registered guard as having the second-best overall combined score of 82, including production (75) and athleticism (88).
In addition, the Cowboy ran an impressive 5.03 for his 40-yard dash weighing in at 322 pounds.
Beebe achieved a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.27, the 108th-best score ever by a guard, out of 1,500 results in Combine history.

Comparisons
According to his NFL scouting profile, the scouts have mirrored Beebe to the professional player Kevin Zeitler.
The current Detroit Lions guard is encroaching on his 13th season in the NFL and is a certified veteran.
Surprisingly, the guard only managed to register his first-ever Pro Bowl appearance in 2023 but has been the perfect example of consistency.
Moreover, both players have been consensus first-team All-American offensive lineman.
Strengths
Beebe’s best traits are his agility as a heavy O-Lineman and his versatility across the board, playing every position bar center in college.
His hypermobility generates swift lateral movement which can help keep defenders in front of him.
Furthermore, he manages to keep square to defenders and has the flexibility to hinge out of his stance.
Ultimately, his play-to-the-whistle mentality is crucial to seeing out snaps and not letting oncoming rushers slip behind and attack the quarterback.
College record
As mentioned, Beebe gathered experience in every position on the offensive line in college and had been practicing at center behind the curtain.
In 2021, the Kansas State rookie started all 13 conference games at left tackle.
The year after, he pivoted to left guard and proceeded to start all the games there.
Beebe saw continuity in 2023 as he remained at left guard for the entire campaign.
At the end of his college career, Beebe had achieved the following: First-team All-Big 12 Conference, Second-team Associated Press All-American, Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, First-team Associated Press All-American.
Prospects/predictions
It has been reported that the Dallas Cowboys front office has told Beebe he is expected to play at center replacing Tyler Biadasz.
Many analysts believe if it was not for his reach (31 ½”), then Beebe would have fallen much earlier in the draft because his tape is solid.
Nonetheless, he will be a Day 1 starter for the Dallas Cowboys and his dynamic multi-functional talent could see him be a generational offensive lineman for a decade or more.
