The Dallas Cowboys hopefully selected their franchise left tackle in the opening round of the NFL Draft and he cannot wait to get started with one teammate.

Jerry Jones selected Oklahoma rookie Tyler Guyton with the #29th overall pick last Thursday.

America’s Team decided to trade back with the Detroit Lions for an extra pick, and they chose another offensive lineman Cooper Beebe.

Guyton, a projected first-rounder, got the call from the Cowboys front office and his NFL dream came true.

Moreover, the 22-year-old is set to start at left tackle for Dallas and has huge shoes to fill.

Legendary veteran Tyron Smith had to send an emotional farewell to Cowboy Nation as his contract expired.

After 13 years of calling Dallas his home, he hit free agency and landed in the Big Apple with the New York Jets.

Therefore, Jones will be hopeful they have found a healthier and cheaper replacement who can reach the same heights as Smith.

Guyton has shown he cannot wait to get underway in offseason training and is excited about running out to 80,000 fans at AT&T Stadium.

Furthermore, the offensive lineman has expressed a keen interest in working with one of his fellow teammates.

“That was the most exciting thing for me,” Guyton said of Tyler Smith, via The Athletic. I get a guard that’s a dog. I love how he plays. I feel like we’re going to thrive together. I love his nasty edge and his ferocious mentality. Hopefully, I can piggy-back off of him.”

Tyler Smith will line out on Guyton’s left-hand side and they will simultaneously protect Dak Prescott’s blindside.

In Smith’s 2023 sophomore season, he earned an induction into the Second-Team All-Pro.

Guyton has shown an eagerness to learn from Smith in training and wants to share his ‘ferocious mentality’.

Tyler Smith wanted to remain at left guard after his All-Pro season

There was confusion about whether Tyler Smith would move back into his natural tackle position after Tyrone Smith departed.

However, in an interview, he stated he wants ‘continuity’ at left guard and Guyton’s addition grants his wish.

America’s Team has invested in the trenches with Tyler Smith and Guyton protecting the blindside and Beebe slotting into the center role.
