One major player is missing as Dallas Cowboys kick off Spring workouts

The Dallas Cowboys kicked off their offseason spring workout program and one of their key player’s absence has been felt.

America’s Team has endured an underwhelming offseason and their approach to behind-the-scene matters has been a hindrance.

Today marks the day that the football season is creeping closer.

Dallas Cowboys begin offseason workouts without one player

Most franchises have started their offseason non-mandatory workouts and players are returning from spring break.

Players are encouraged to participate in these workouts not only for the benefit of the team chemistry but they will have bonus incentives embedded into their deals.

The Cowboys have kicked off their program but one imperative player was notably absent this morning.

Furthermore, the day began with an 8 a.m. team meeting at The Star in Frisco.

CeeDee Lamb refuses to show up at the Cowboys’ training facility

Per Dallas Morning News reporter Michael Gehlken CeeDee Lamb was registered to have not been in attendance.

According to the journalist, two people close to the situation have said Lamb is withholding because of his contract.

In addition, the reports said the wide receiver is not expected to report to the team facility anytime soon.

It was reported that Lamb may consider heading down the path of training refusal but now it has manifested into reality.

Lamb has one year remaining on his rookie deal

The 25-year-old has one year left on his current deal and is expecting to receive a top-of-the-market deal.

An extension that could see him as the highest-paid receiver in the league.

The training is non-mandatory but this could be the precedent that Lamb is setting.

Players refusing to train have earned blockbuster deals in the past

Abstaining from training has proved to work historically in the Cowboys’ past.

For example, Ezekiel Elliott refused to train and was offered a six-year deal in 2019 worth $90 million and was made the highest-paid running back in the league at the time.

So, why would Lamb see this and not think to approach the situation similarly?

Mike Florio slammed the Cowboys media team last week for trying to gloss over the receiver’s situation.

Now, the standoff officially begins between the player and the franchise.

Ultimately, these scenarios only end up going one way, especially with All-Pro players.
