Chad Ochocinco predicts when Dallas Cowboys will agree CeeDee Lamb contract, says they do it on purpose

The topic of negotiations is a rather sensitive one for the Dallas Cowboys at the moment.

Free-agency has been officially open for almost a month and general manager Jerry Jones has yet to take any action that is beneficial and necessary for the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season.

He’s already made some speeches that are only putting more questions in the minds of the fans, who are fed up with the same attitude every year.

It’s hard to forget the change in tone that the owner adopted after stating that the franchise was going ‘all-in’. Out of the blue, the plan now is to settle for the pieces in the squad and the upcoming rookies.

Waiting to see what will be the fate of the Dallas stars

The Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons and Cee Dee Lamb situations are still unknown for the coming seasons. The quarterback could become a free agent if he doesn’t renew his contract with the Cowboys.

On the other hand, the edge rusher, is going through a phase of rumours and it’s not known whether he’ll stay with the team after they pick up his fifith-option rookie contract.

And then there’s the wide receiver, who refuted speculations that he would consider a holdout during off-season training starting next week. He’s at the same spot as Parsons: both are in the fifth year of their rookie contracts and are hoping for long-term extensions.

It’s worth remembering a quote from Jones about Lamb’s significance to the squad: “He’s out there and he’s more valuable than anybody else”.

“But,” Jerry added, “that valuable, to have to give up four or five players to have him, you have to get that reconciled. That’s what I’m trying to say. It’s a lot quicker and easier said than done.”

The statement in itself is good, it means that the organisation intends to keep him in Dallas, but it’s not his job to make empty promises. However, he continued his speech saying one specific word that put a lot of question marks in everyone’s head: “Whoever has CeeDee, and I hope it’s us, they’re going to use him […]”

Will Lamb be paid

On Wednesday’s edition of the NightCap show, Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson reacted to rumors of Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb potentially holding out as the parties have yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension.

Sharpe made it clear that the WR has attended the expectations since he was drafted and that he needs to be recognised as the team’s best receiver.

“He’s been what you expected when you drafted, so guess what? He’s gonna command a premium. Cee Dee Lamb has shown himself to be a top receiver. You’re gonna have to pay him.”

Johnson agrees, legitimises the rapport he has with Prescott and projects how the organisation should handle his situation.

“You look at the chemistry between Dak Prescott and Cee Dee Lamb, you understand how vital and important he is to the offense, especially for Dak Prescott. So as the owner Jerry Jones, as Stephen Jones, you understand you wanna work the numbers, you wanna do right by Cee Dee by any means.”

“They’re gonna pay, but it’s gonna be at the last minute, probably right before training camp getting to start. Then they’re gonna go across the ticker – Cee Dee Lamb and just got him paid. For some reason I think they do it on purpose.”

“Obviously missing time, Cee Dee he knows routine, he knows the offense, but still you just want to get those extra reps with your quarterback, with your offense, the camaraderie, the chemistry between everybody and have everybody showing up to the off-season program.”

Prescott and Lamb are currently one of the most dynamic duos in the NFL and the Cowboys need to do something to keep that going in the league.
