‘Oh man’… L’Jarius Sneed makes his intentions clear and explains why he’s having trouble sleeping

The Kansas City Chiefs are flying high and entered the offseason as Super Bowl champions but are still getting down to business just like everyone else.

General manager Brett Veach put to rest one of the biggest offseason debacles – Chris Jones’ contract.

Last week it was announced he would sign a five-year deal as the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.

However, there was a problem which ran parallel to this situation.

Priority is Sneed now

L’Jarius Sneed was another pillar of the Kansas City Chiefs defense whose contract was also expiring.

In fear of losing their best cornerback to the open market, the Chiefs used the ‘non-exclusive franchise tag’.

Sneed could talk to teams during the ‘legal tampering’ period and secure a trade.

There have been little to no reports at all of the 27-year-old seeking a trade with any team.

Additionally, in a recent interview with The Big Brother Big Sisters Kansas City organization, he stated he wants to remain with the Chiefs.

‘I don’t get to sleep’

Sneed mentioned in the exclusive interview: “My life is fun but it is very stressful now too, I don’t get sleep at night, I have a newborn, I don’t get to sleep and I got free agency.”

When asked what he hopes to be the situation come July, he said: “Oh man hopefully I’m with the Chiefs, hopefully still here and we got back and repeat.”

Head coach Andy Reid also reiterated how he wanted Sneed to be a Chief in 2024 at the NFL Combine.

News has emerged that Patrick Mahomes is prepared to restructure his contract to save $21.6 million in cap space – reported by The Athletic.

Therefore, there could be space for Sneed to resign with the Chiefs.

Would the three-peat be on?

An elite cornerback will be crucial to the Chiefs going for that historical ‘three-peat’.

He did not allow a single touchdown whilst in coverage last year – a lockdown corner!

Moreover, many teams will be pursuing a trade if Sneed and the Chiefs part ways.

He hopes to be sleeping well again very soon and that will be made easier knowing he remains in Kansas.
