The Kansas City Chiefs are midway through their current OTA session and they have welcomed back their star wide receiver Rashee Rice, amid his offseason troubles.

Rashee Rice has been one of the most problematic players in the league during the NFL offseason.

His troubles started way back in late March when he was involved in a multi-vehicle crash.

Rice has second investigation dropped after an incident in a Dallas nightclub

Only weeks later, an investigation was opened up into the claim that Rashee Rice had assaulted a photographer at a nightclub.

However, it has been reported that the photographer in question has dropped the charges regarding the incident.

It has been a difficult couple of months for the star player and now he has returned to Missouri to participate in the team’s OTAs.

Nonetheless, the 24-year-old is back with the franchise to focus on the 2024 season.

Reports have suggested he is in line for a multi-game suspension from the NFL for the 2024 season but is participating as normal in preseason.

The Chiefs had high hopes for Rice after being a break-out star player in 2023

Rice was expected to have an explosive sophomore campaign in 2024 after breaking NFL and franchise rookie records in 2023.

Moreover, he was able to settle into Andy Reid’s offensive scheme swiftly, and his production reflected just that.

Being a star player in the NFL has its benefits and Rice has already experienced one of them.

If Rice was not a predominant player for the franchise and a third-string, or maybe even a second-string player, he would have likely been cut by now.

Mike Florio says if Rice was a ‘scrub’ then ‘he would already be gone’

Mike Florio touched upon this benefit he gets from being a key player on Pro Football Talk.

“If he was a scrub he would’ve already been cut but because he is a key player, who is ascending, they’re (the Chiefs) not gonna give up quickly,” the NFL expert said on daytime TV.

“If he was man number #89 on the offseason roster, then he would already be gone. Hypocrisy is real, double standards are real, it’s in every sport, in every level, excuses are made for the stars, examples are made for the scrubs.”

The Chiefs wait and see what the legal outcome of the street racing incident is. but they will be preparing to start their three-peat campaign without Rice.

Furthermore, the legal issues may trickle over into the next season, it just depends on how long the matter takes to reach the courthouse.
