New claims over length of ban NFL could hand Rashee Rice, it does not look good for Kansas City

Rashee Rice’s role as a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024 is still hanging in the balance.

In the Draft, the Chiefs probably considered the player’s situation when making their choices, seeking to strengthen the team for the coming season, even without Rice’s guaranteed presence.

Considering that the WR is likely to face some punishment from the NFL, the franchise’s strategies for this year need to be very well designed with the receiver out of the picture.

NFL insider says league already has plans for Rice

During an appearance on Steve Smith’s Agent 89 Breakdown Show, insider James Palmer revealed that Rice is going to be suspended for at least half of the season.

“Not only will Rice be suspended, but Kansas City believes it’ll be that significant.”

Adam Schefter, about a week ago, brought the information that Rice would suffer a ‘multi-game suspension’. But Palmer’s report showed that the league’s plans for the player appear to be more rigorous than the latest news.

Roger Goodell and the Chiefs’ organisation have already made it clear that they are waiting for the process to run its course to see what measures will be taken.

Rice was involved in a multi-car accident that resulted in four people being injured on March 30. He is currently answering to eight charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and serious assault, all related to the vehicle crash.

What this might mean for KC’s roster

Although Xavier Worthy may have the potential to make up for Rice’s absence, not having him for much of the season could be a significant loss for KC – at least before the playoffs. The sophomore was the WR who produced the most in 2023, catching 79 passes for 938 yards and seven TDs.

As the Chiefs’ pursuit of the three-peat is their number one priority, the organisation will find a way to ensure that the receiver’s suspension isn’t felt as much by the team’s offense.
