Chris Simms reacts to Stephen Jones’ offseason comparison to Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs

The Dallas Cowboys have still not made any progress with CeeDee Lamb regarding his contract holdout and have gone as far as to compare the situation to Tyreek Hill with the Chiefs.

America’s Team continues to sit on Lamb’s contract and he took matters into his hands last month when he refused to show up at the OTAs.

The wide receiver is entering the final year of his rookie deal and has shown his hand as he withdraws services.

Furthermore, fellow receiver Brandin Cooks stated Lamb is the best in the league and encouraged him to ‘get every single dollar he can’.

Lamb joins fellow receiver Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase as they enter the cat-and-mouse contract war.

All three stars are looking at each other to reset the wide receiver market with a record-breaking deal.

However, NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles have already made their move making A.J. Brown the highest-paid receiver on a new three-year extension.

America’s Team tends to remain static when it comes to key player contracts and has fallen back into their old ways.

Stephen Jones used the Chiefs’ dilemma with Hill as a comparison to theirs

Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones recently had an interview on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio and was asked about the lack of progress with Lamb.

He used the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, as an example of dealing with a star wide receiver in the offseason.

Moreover, he claimed that the Chiefs had to choose if they wanted to hold on to Tyreek Hill who demanded record-setting money at the time.

They chose to trade him to the Miami Dolphins and received numerous picks which has been fundamental in building their current dynasty.

Chris Simms was left bemused by Stephen Jones’ comments on the radio

On Pro Football Talk, Chris Simms was unconvinced at Jones’ comparison: “I’m not gonna sit there a buy what Stephen Jones just said. Kansas City did the opposite Mr. Jones.

“They (Chiefs) got out in front of the situation (Tyreek Hill) and got a bunch of picks, and unloaded the contract and the money and kept the team going. They were in front of the situation. They weren’t like, ‘Oh wait Tyreek’s up and we don’t know what to do and now we can’t trade him and he wants a boatload of money’. No no! They did the opposite of you Dallas.”

The NFL expert disagreed with Jones’ assessment of the current situation and believes the Chiefs have been proactive, unlike Dallas.

The Chiefs executed their plan to perfection something Dallas has not

Ultimately, the Chiefs’ general manager Brett Veach could not facilitate a new contract for Hill and got rid of him for valuable draft capital.

America’s team has sat on the situation and they have been cornered by Lamb who is happy to wait as the market gets more expensive.

Dallas needs to get ahead of the program and they would save themselves valuable cap space by doing so.
