The Arrowhead faithful have a new face to cheer on in 2024 and Travis Kelce can act as a mentor to the young prospect.

Jared Wiley is one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ latest recruits at tight end.

The fourth-round draftee held the quarterback position in high school and pivoted to the receiving role in college.

Moreover, he was filmed throwing a touchdown in high school to now-AFC West rival Quentin Johnson of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Travis Kelce, the highest-paid tight end in the league, has been enthusiastic about the Chiefs latest addition.

The 34-year-old can mentor the rookie and try to nurture Wiley into his successor.

Both have come from similar paths, being a quarterback turned tight end during high school.

The Chiefs front office had kept close tabs on the 23-year-old out of Texas Christian University.

However, their make-shift scout and draft pick influencer Patrick Mahomes may have had an ever-closer view.

Jared Wiley was participating in Mahomes’ preseason camp in Texas

During Travis Kelce’s latest New Heights podcast post the NFL Draft, the Chiefs superstar revealed that Wiley had played in Patrick Mahomes’ preseason camp.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP, like every year, hosts a preseason training camp in his home state Texas.

New free agent addition Marquise Brown was spotted training with the Chiefs quarterback to build up their chemistry.

In addition, Kadarius Toney was captured on Brown’s Instagram story participating in the offensive drills.

This provoked a reaction from some fans as the jury is still out of Toney’s future in Missouri after a tragic 2023.

The Chiefs have listened to Patrick Mahomes draft suggestions in the past

It has been revealed that Jared Wiley was also present at the training camp.

Playing college football in Texas and being on the Chiefs’ draft board, Mahomes could gauge the tight end’s ability.

This should not come as a surprise because Mahomes has pushed the Chiefs to draft Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Rashee Rice in previous years.

Ultimately, the signal-caller knows what he wants on offense and may have been impressed with Wiley’s talent in camp.
