The controversies surrounding Rashee Rice cannot be a block for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are seeking a historic achievement in 2024.
Rice was involved in a multi-car accident that resulted in four people being injured on March 30. He is currently answering to related charges.
The franchise has already said that they will wait for the legal process to run its course before making an official decision. Even so, the NFL is expected to suspend the player for several games next season.

Cam Newton gives Rice unsolicited advice
On his podcast 4th and 1 show, Cam Newton spoke about how he sees the receiver’s situation and what he would say to him if he had the chance: “Playboy, sit your ass down somewhere bro,” said the former quarterback.
“I’m not gonna just talk reckless. I never met (Rashee Rice), you know what I’m saying, but if I were to see him, ‘Boy, you too loud right now bro.’ What’re you doing it for? You got kids? What do you want to do it for? You got family to take care of? What do you want to do it for? You can do that ___ out of the way. Keep that ___ in perspective. Keep the main thing.”
He went on to basically say that Rice is easily replaceable in the league.
“I know you’re young, granted, but bro, you’re responsible for too much ___ to have that be where you put your hat on. ‘Oh, he’s young. He’ll get it.’ By the time he gets it, it’s gonna be over with. How many times do we see this? Because I will tell you there is not a person in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes included, that the league can’t do without. Trust me, they do not need you.”
Rice was the main pass-catcher in 2023 – his rookie season, by the way. He caught 73 passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Chiefs do have a plan B
Taking into account the possibility of not having Rice for a major part of the regular season – and eventually not having him in the squad at all – the organisation already has another strategy in place.
The fragility of KC’s receiving corps was well known, so Brett Veach pulled out all the stops to reinforce the unit with veterans and younger talents, also thinking about the long-term future.
Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Louis Rees-Zammit and Jared Wiley are some of the new names who will contribute to the Chiefs’ offense.
