The Kansas City Chiefs have been knuckling down with their offseason workouts, which will be crucial to laying down the groundwork for their preseason.
The franchise is concluding its second session of OTAs in May today, as they edge closer to the mandatory minicamp scheduled for mid-June.
One of the key players that the Chiefs will be monitoring is Xavier Worthy who was dealt an early setback.
Xavier Worthy suffered an early hamstring tweak which forced him to miss part of the OTA
The Chiefs’ explosive first-round pick was forced to man the sideline on the second day of the May 20-22 OTA.
Unfortunately, the rookie tweaked his hamstring and was forced to be an onlooker during the remaining days.
Kansas City dominated the media on the opening night of the NFL Draft when they took Xavier Worthy after facilitating a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

Moreover, fans were shocked that the Bills would execute a trade with a prominent AFC rival, who has tormented them in the playoffs, but they prioritized recuperating picks.
Worthy became the headline of the NFL Combine when he posted his 4.21 40-yard dash time to set a new record.
Andy Reid and Brett Veach had circled the 21-year-old’s name and his speed to get downfield will be a wonderful asset for Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes believes the Chiefs are built to go deep with the new talent
Patrick Mahomes believes the addition of Worthy, alongside the free agent addition of Marquise Brown, means the team is built to go deep in 2024.
The franchise has lacked an all-out speedster since the departure of Tyreek Hill. Skyy Moore was hoped to follow in his footsteps but has failed to match expectations.
Xavier Worthy will be looking to develop his chemistry with his wide receiver core, and, most importantly, the two-time MVP.
NFL expert says Worthy is experiencing the ‘toughest’ training camp in football
However, when appearing on the Up and Adams Show, NFL expert James Palmer described the training camp Worthy is facing.
“Just keep an eye on how Xavier Worthy is handling everything mentally because we know he can play, but what Andy Reid does is he puts so much on receivers,” Palmer said when speaking to podcast host Kay Adams.
“It’s one of the toughest training camps in all of football, if not the toughest, he (Worthy) has such a strong mental makeup, and his football intelligence is through the roof.”
Palmer is excited just like all of Chiefs Kingdom to see how well Worthy performs in the league, but he must adapt quickly to the NFL training program.
Andy Reid will be pushing Worthy to his limits but will be careful about his hamstring
Andy Reid will be putting the young talent through his paces and he must be mentally zoned in on the offseason sessions.
Furthermore, the Chiefs will be monitoring his hamstring very closely during the coming weeks and months.
Worthy will heavily rely on his explosivity off the line to get the step on his defender and his sustainable speed when stretching the plays downfield.
Therefore, he must not aggravate his hamstring throughout his preparation for the 2024 season.
