The Dallas Cowboys offseason has come under scrutiny and it is not just their lack of player activity that is under the microscope.
Cultural problems have become a resounding issue that has been questioned in Dallas.
The Green Bay Packers – the youngest team in the NFL – steamrolled the Cowboys in the recent playoffs.
Moreover, it has been just under three decades since America’s Team last appeared in a Super Bowl, nay an NFC Championship.
Jerry Jones: More than just an owner
Jerry Jones’ love for his franchise has seen him take a hands-on approach that very few owners do.
The 81-year-old is the owner, president, and general manager for the Dallas Cowboys.
Credit to the owner, he has created the most valuable franchise in sporting history.
However, from the outside perspective, the Cowboys have become more fixated on their brand value than their football success.
Many journalists, presenters, and even former players have called out the culture in Dallas.
Ex-Cowboy Dalton Schultz had described the place as a ‘zoo’ during his tenure.

‘Organization of finger pointers’
Three-time Super Bowl winner Mark Schlereth called out the Cowboys’ culture on the Stinkin Truth podcast.
Schlereth exclaimed no one takes responsibility: “What’s the old saying in the NFL? I don’t want people who point the finger, I want people who pull the thumb.
“I want responsibility takers, this why I think under Jerry, they’re just not going to win because you create an organization of finger pointers.”
Jerry Jones cannot shift much of the blame away from himself because he is so involved.
Due to his roles within the franchise, he holds a majority share of the blame.
Jones takes much of the blame
We know that Jones is the face of the franchise and that the culture he has created lands at his feet.
The way the owner has nurtured and molded the Cowboys has made them the team that dominates the headlines.
Therefore, they receive the most scrutiny and Jerry Jones is not the quickest to take responsibility.
An uphill battle continues this offseason with many talking points such as Dak Prescott’s contract and offensive line reinforcements.
