The Kansas City Chiefs are on the precipices of the unchartered three-peat and one reporter has suggested a blockbuster trade that could send seismic waves through the NFL.

Eight teams have tried before them and all eight have failed. All eight never returned to the Super Bowl the following year and only three franchises made it back to the championship game.

However, they have kept their experienced core of talent, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones are all lacing up together in 2024.

Moreover, Andy Reid put to bed suggestions that he could retire once he signed a new extension which would see him remain with the franchise through 2029.

However, there is always room for improvement and the Chiefs still have $14.7 million in cap space to play with.

General Manager Brett Veach can pull a few strings and manage to increase that number allowing the franchise to make one more notable addition.

Bleacher Report journalist Alex Ballentine has suggested the Chiefs could eye up a ‘shocking’ trade idea that could push the Chiefs offense into a different stratosphere.

Ballentine has proposed the Chiefs try to exploit the San Francisco 49ers’ contractual troubles and prize away Deebo Samuel.

Samuel has dropped down the pecking order after successive breakout seasons by Brandon Aiyuk.

Furthermore, the 26-year-old has reported to be looking for a mega contract that pays in line with a WR1.

Samuel is regarded as the Niners’ number one but Aiyuk’s receiving production has eclipsed the former First-Team All-Pro’s.

Therefore, the West Coast-based franchise has a major headache and the Chiefs could offer the team a way out.

Speed kills and the Chiefs have already shown their intentions during the offseason

Kansas City has shown that speed is king with the free-agent acquisition of Marquise Brown and drafting rookie Xavier Worthy.

Rashee Rice’s off-field issue could result in a suspension following an investigation, meaning Samuel’s speed could be required.

Not only would the move bolster their offense but it would weaken the Super Bowl favorites heading into 2024.

The Chiefs could propose a trade in June but would be met with silence

The Chiefs could entertain the idea with the 49ers after June 1, as this would save the franchise $22 million against the cap.

The idea sounds wonderful, but San Francisco would probably consider the Chiefs the last team to trade with.

Ironically, the Buffalo Bills had the same logic when seeking trade partners for Stefon Diggs.

Once the clock strikes midnight on June 31, teams will be active again and trades could be a frequent trend.
