Yesterday, Justin Jefferson signed a record-breaking contract which has now given the green light for CeeDee Lamb to approach the negotiation table and demand his desired figure.
CeeDee Lamb has been one-third of a contractual headache for the Dallas Cowboys and the inability to get ahead of the growing market has proved costly.
Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and Lamb have all been clear that they want to be paid but if the contracts do not reach them, well, that is a separate matter.
Moreover, Lamb has been very transparent with his offseason goal which is not to enter his rookie contract year and become exposed to the franchise tag.
Jerry Jones delaying key contract has seen the price being raised exponentially
Owner Jerry Jones has been very cautious and tight-fisted within his approach and the benchmark for Lamb has been set.
Similar to Lamb, Justin Jefferson has been holding out from the franchise’s offseason voluntary workouts.
Yesterday, he put pen to paper on a blockbuster deal that sees him become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.
Jefferson has been tied to a contract worth $140 million with $110 million fully guaranteed over four years.

Therefore, he is the first wide receiver to break into the $35 million APY ballpark and others may try to follow suit.
The Vikings receiver was expected to become the most expensive wide receiver in the offseason and his deal has made him just that.
However, CeeDee Lamb and Ja’Marr Chase are seeking their first veteran payday and will want to land as close to Jefferson’s number as possible.
The Dallas front office will now have a number in their head to negotiate at
The Dallas Cowboys front office now have a figure in their head and Jerry Jones’ waiting game has delivered.
Prior to the NFL Draft, Jones suggested that the front office was ‘waiting for leaves to fall’ before signing new deals.
Those ‘leaves’ have fallen and the 25-year-old receiver will be expecting a sufficient deal imminently.
NFL expert suggests the Cowboys need to work out where they value Lamb in comparison to Jefferson
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport believes America’s Team must answer one question before they can start speaking with Lamb’s representatives.
“The one thing we don’t know is, do the Cowboys think he is above Jefferson, at or just below,”, the NFL Insider explained on NFL Network.
“The answer to the question will go a long way in figuring out how quickly they can get a deal done.”
CeeDee Lamb could slide in just underneath the Viking at $34 million
Rapoport suggests that the executives will need to group up and reach a consensus on where they value Jefferson compared to Lamb.
Many reports have suggested Jefferson is a ceiling for Lamb, not the floor.
Ultimately, Lamb will be looking at $33/34 million APY and the fully guaranteed money will be an imperative segment of the deal.
The Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp starts today, so Lamb may continue to be a holdout as he remains without an extension.
