One Kansas City Chiefs player has expressed surprise at seeing their Super Bowl rivals release a key man.

The most exciting period in the NFL offseason is about to get underway when the clock strikes midnight tomorrow.

Free Agency becomes the topic that dominates the headlines around the NFL world, as unrestricted free agents now can approach the negotiation table.

The free agency merry-go-round

For Kansas City, the tagged L’Jarius Sneed can now converse with other franchises to discuss a trade move.

Players in the next couple of days will be signing contracts and securing themselves a team for the upcoming 2024 season.

Chris Jones has signed a five-year deal keeping him in Kansas City.

Furthermore, one player who is not hitting free agency this year is defensive end Charles Omenihu.

This time next year Omenihu will be joining the open market, but has voiced his concerns.

The 26-year-old believes he is worthy of a new deal after an impressive end to the season.

Charles Omenihu wants new deal

Additionally, the Texas native has not shied away from showing what he truly feels on X.

One time saying: “Want to feel appreciated.”

On another occasion, he said “Didn’t have a full season and put up numbers. Does that go unnoticed?

“Might have to do it again and get what I want at the end.”

Evidently, the defensive man is shocked over not being given a new deal and risks free agency exposure next year.

Shocked at former teammate

Yesterday Omenihu was shocked by one of his former teammates at the San Francisco 49ers hitting the open market, Arik Armstead.

On X he posted: “Boy I didn’t expect that.”

Omenihu was stunned in the wake of his ex-49ers’ colleague getting released by the Super Bowl runners-up.

Arik Armstead is now a high-value property in free agency despite his exceptional playoff run which ended in Super Bowl defeat.

Armstead recorded eight sacks in the 2023 postseason, which ranked second in the franchises’ history.

Currently, the 30-year-old ranks fourth in playoff sacks amongst all active players.

Omenihu played alongside the star player on the West Coast in the 2021 season.

@DaltonBarnes jokingly responded saying: “Ask your boi if he wants a ring.”

With Jones signing a new long-term deal the Chiefs will be staying clear of Armstead.

Could the conversation be different if Jones hit free agency?

The Chiefs may have relied on Omenihu’s past connection.
