The San Francisco 49ers succumbed to defeat in Las Vegas at Super Bowl LVIII but will need to stick together in order to return back to the grand stage.
Brock Purdy and his crew will be bitterly disappointed to be pipped to another ring by the Kansas City Chiefs, as they were on the receiving end of the same verdict back in the 2019 season.
The Chiefs clawed it back
The Californian based franchise took a 10-3 lead into the half in a low scoring affair. They looked good value for money when Jake Moody nailed his 53-yard field goal with only 1 minute and 57 seconds left on the clock.
However, you can never bet against Patrick Mahomes and company as they marched down field to give Harrison Butker a chance to tie the game from 29 yards out. ‘Mr Perfect’ made no mistake and clutched up to give NFL fans a glimpse of a nail-biting overtime.
With the 49ers opting to take the ball first and only managing a field, the opportunity presented itself. Mahomes threw the Chiefs to a third Super Bowl in five years and earned himself an additional MVP accolade in the process.

The 49ers will be absolutely devastated they could not see out the game, a contest where they created plenty of opportunities.
Watching the Chiefs raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy above their heads at the expense of themselves will haunt them for the foreseeable future.
Although, one 49ers star has already made clear what his feelings are about the agonizing loss.
Kyle Juszczyk, the versatile fullback for the 49ers, sent out an Instagram post over the weekend – two weeks after the Super Bowl loss – with a short but strong message: “‘Delayed not denied.”
Evidently, the eight-time Pro Bowler is confident that this is just a minor hurdle on their road to success. A message like this is key to the 49ers’ fans, who will be quietly confident that this is foreshadowing for next season.
With some comments taking a dig at the fact the 49ers have been denied by the same team twice in the Super Bowl within five years, there were comments of encouragement.
Fellow teammate Charvarius Ward comments on the post saying: ‘That’s my dawg.’
The 2023 First-Team All-Pros’ partner, Kristin Juszczyk expressed her reassurance: ‘Say it on repeat.’

49ers will look to bounce back
With the franchise and fan base seemingly all pulling together after the bitter taste of defeat, the Chiefs will have to come up against a more determined side.
The 2024 season’s opponents for every franchise have been announced, with the 49ers and Chiefs locking horns in California, there is no reason to say sparks will not fly again.
Who knows, could the Super Bowl 2024 be a repeat of the one before? If that was to be the case, a vengeful 49ers team will have to stop a Chiefs Kingdom eyeing up a three-peat.
