However, the Atlanta Falcons have moved quickly to prize Mooney to Georgia.
The Falcons now have a new asset for their recently acquired quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Mooney has been of interest to the Chiefs for some time and links had been established to bring him in.
Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy worked alongside Mooney during his time as the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

That ambition has been ruled out now with Mooney signing a three-year deal worth $39 million with the Falcons.
Ultimately Mooney has proved a costly pick-up for the Falcons but Cousins would have been given reassurance that he would be provided the weapons.

Now, the Chiefs could turn their attention to the NFL Draft in April to find their receiver to complement Rice.
