After crossing off the paramount off-season priority, the Kansas City Chiefs have turned their attention to addressing the wide receiver issues in 2023.
Chris Jones confirmed he is staying in Kansas for another five years after he was made the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
One of the key issues Chiefs Kingdom has to address is revitalizing the wide receiver core.
A fortnight ago Marquez Valdes-Scantling was cut by the Chiefs saving $13 million in cap space.
Wide receiver recruitment
Mecole Hardman has become a free agent after catching the winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII.
Rashee Rice seems set to build off his amazing rookie year which included dominant postseason performances.
Nevertheless, Rice can not be the only established target.
Patrick Mahomes, despite his greatness, needs weapons.
Travis Kelce is not getting any younger and went for under 1,000 yards receiving for the first since 2015.
ESPN reported on Monday that the Chiefs were showing interest in the Chicago Bears free agent Darnell Mooney

The Falcons swooped in for Mooney
However, the Atlanta Falcons have moved quickly to prize Mooney to Georgia.
The Falcons now have a new asset for their recently acquired quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Mooney has been of interest to the Chiefs for some time and links had been established to bring him in.
Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy worked alongside Mooney during his time as the head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Moreover, Nagy helped the 26-year-old to break the 1,000-yard barrier in his sophomore season.
The now-Chiefs OC was fired that season after a poor regular season record and reunited with Andy Reid.
Journalists were thinking that the Chiefs would tempt Mooney to Missouri due to Nagy’s presence.
That ambition has been ruled out now with Mooney signing a three-year deal worth $39 million with the Falcons.
Ultimately Mooney has proved a costly pick-up for the Falcons but Cousins would have been given reassurance that he would be provided the weapons.
Chiefs must look elsewhere
Now, the Chiefs could turn their attention to the NFL Draft in April to find their receiver to complement Rice.
The fastest-ever man in the NFL Combine Xavier Worthy has been predicted in a mock draft.
