The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will try to tempt number their number one wide receiver with a new contract, but their man seems as though he will be hitting Free Agency very soon.
Mike Evans has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL for the past decade and his contract becomes void this Monday.
Evan’s gleaming portfolio
In the last 10 years, Evans has been of Pro Bowl calibre multiple times; achieving the feet five times in his career. Whilst forming a crucial partnership with Tom Brady in 2020 which spearheaded a win at Super Bowl LV. Evans has a stacked CV and there are several suitors who will be vying for his signature at the conclusion of his current deal.
So far, the bookies favour the former rookie out of Texas A&M to land in Houston. Evans still has a few years at the top of his game, so will not be looking to take a pay cut and secure a final mega deal.
Speculation has emerged over the coming days about the Kansas City Chiefs potentially offering the former world champion a contract.
With Patrick Mahomes heard to have said they are aiming for the three-peat, could the Chiefs use the temptation of another ring as leverage?

Nick Wright not a fan of Mike Evans move
The idea was proposed to Nick Wright on First Things First, the proposal was swiftly shut down by the journalist.
“No, I don’t want him on the Chiefs”, Wright responded.
The statement was met with quizzical looks by Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes, but Wright had a realistic explanation for this:
“Listen if you [Evans] wanted to come and play for $5 million bucks sure! But Mike Evans is too good to take anything like that contract. Evans is gonna cash in one more time to a big degree.”
This is certainly true; Evans will know he will be in demand once free agency strikes and can secure more money with a franchise that can better the Chiefs if they even bothered to propose a deal.

‘Rashee Rice is a number one’
Wright argues that before jumping to offer Evans a deal, the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions can use that money elsewhere in their bid for a third successive crown.
As a franchise the Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the best drafting teams recently in the NFL. Victims of their own success, to hold onto their progressive picks, they need as much money at their disposal when offering fresh contracts.
In addition, the Chiefs have secured consecutive rings without a top draw receiving core – they have certainly had their problems. Nick Wright was adamant they do not need Evans as the Chiefs number one receiver, but stated a current player will step up to that role:
“I think Rashee Rice is going to be the Chiefs number one receiver.
“I don’t think he is a deep threat J’Marr Chase type, but I think he is a number one. I think they are going to draft a guy. So you have Rashee Rice, and you have a rookie. I bet they bring back Mecole Hardman.
“I just don’t think the Chiefs are going to use their resources going after Evans, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman.”
Coming off his rookie year, Rice nearly broke 1,000 yards receiving but set a rookie record for most postseason receptions – a cornerstone of their Super Bowl LVIII success.
Financially, it would be smart to keep the faith in the rookie and support him for the top receiving role, despite a former Super Bowl winner waiting in the wings.
