The Dallas Cowboys, being America’s Team, will have a spotlight focused on them this offseason for multiple reasons:

Dak Prescott’s situation will need to be sorted out by March 13th, as if he is given a new deal, they will need to reconstruct it to be cap-compliant by the deadline.

Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb are both sniffing around for new deals and are expected to be paid significantly.

Finally, the Cowboys are expected to add talent from the free agency market if they want to be serious contenders for a ring next season.

Tony Pollard future

Owner Jerry Jones touched upon the disappointing run game last season.

As a result, rumors have circulated that the Cowboys will be looking at the likes of Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley to add to the roster.

Henry has mutually agreed to part ways with the Titans after a dominating career.

Whilst Barkley will not be franchised tagged by the New York Giants.

Philadelphia Eagles v Dallas Cowboys

Tony Pollard was nursing an injury throughout the 2023 season but started to showcase his talent at the tail end.

Despite breaking the 1,000-yard rushing mark, the 2019 draft pick for the Cowboys was expected to hit free agency.

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to be on the prowl for a new running back this offseason as D’Andre Swift is likely to depart.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Pollard is one of the names linked with the vacant rushing role.

The 26-year-old’s versatility is the ideal profile for the Boston-based franchise.

However, the saga in the Dallas offseason could see a massive U-turn according to Mathew Berry at NBC Sports.

Berry stated, amid a list of information he learned at the NFL Combine: “I’m told a likely landing spot for Tony Pollard is… Dallas?

“Yeah, apparently the Cowboys want to bring him back despite all of us thinking he had a down year.

“He wasn’t fully healthy for a lot of the year, but they like him a lot there and I was told: “Don’t be surprised if they bring Pollard back.”

Berry says this is a whisper that was picking up speed around the 2024 NFL Combine.

Pollard could come back

Dallas have been linked with adding various running backs in free agency, but aren’t closing the door to Pollard.

Pollard played most of his career as a complimentary piece behind Ezekiel Elliott, and splitting the work load might suit him better.

Will another team be ready to make him a feature running back next season? In Philadelphia he would just be part of a rotation.

All parties may end up agreeing that a return to Dallas suits everybody best.
