Ex-NFL General Manager says Dallas Cowboys would destroy rival with Running Back signing

The window for teams to Franchise Tag players is now open and there is a wave of speculation around the NFL.

Last year the New York Giants placed the tag on Saquon Barkley. It is doubtful they look to tag him for a second year in a row, amid a market which is not expected to be big for the Running Back positions.

A potential move to the Dallas Cowboys has now been floated on ESPN.

This came via former New York Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum, who believes Barkley would be a great fit in Dallas.

The Saquon Barkley to Dallas Cowboys pitch

Speaking to ESPN’s Get Up, Mike Tannenbaum explained: “The last thing the New York Giants want to see if Saquon Barkley graduates this year, is him with a star on the side of his helmet.

“Could you imagine the first time Dallas rolls into town with Saquon as a Cowboy?

“He would be perfect. He can catch, he can run, his pass protection has actually got better. The way Tony Pollard plays, I actually think he would improve that position for the 2024 Cowboys.”

Striking a move for another star player in the NFC East would be a big coup for the Cowboys, who won the division last year, with one win more than the Eagles.

Saquon Barkley has been with the New York Giants ever since he was drafted in 2018 with the second overall pick.

He is a two-time Pro Bowler, but his NFL career has not taken off in the way many expected, in part due to injuries, and in part due to the lack of direction at the Giants.

A move to the Cowboys would be a seismic one, and fill a hole in Dallas. He would certainly represent Jerry Jones’ desire to go ‘all in’ this off-season.
