The Dallas Cowboys are now in the NFL offseason spotlight and CeeDee Lamb now knows the ball figure that he can bargain close to when negotiating his new deal.
America’s Team has heard that the Minnesota Vikings have made Justin Jefferson the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history.
His deal consists of four years worth $35 million APY with $110 million guaranteed – a record-breaking deal for wide receivers.
Jerry Jones implies they were waiting for Jefferson’s deal before negotiating with Lamb
Before the NFL Draft, Jerry Jones had stated that they had not tied down key players to new extensions because they were ‘waiting for the leaves to fall’.
Yesterday, Jefferson and the Vikings agreed to a new deal that has given CeeDee Lamb the green light.

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver is entering the last year of his rookie contract – his round-one fifth-year option being triggered – meaning he wants to be paid imminently.
America’s Team could use the franchise tag but that would have a more significant blow to their cap space.
Lamb is seeking financial security and will not play under the franchise tag
Moreover, NFL players, due to the uncertainty of career-altering/ending injuries, want financial security on long-term deals to protect them.
Therefore, Lamb playing on two franchise tags is not a situation he wants to entertain.
The 2023 First-Team All-Pro has been absent from the Dallas Cowboys OTAs and it has been confirmed by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport that he is not attending mandatory minicamp.
The minicamp signified the first training program that everyone had to be present, otherwise they would receive fines.
Lamb remains unmoved in his bid for a contract extension and it is now a matter of when, not if, a deal will be completed.
Former NFL player believes Cowboys must pay Lamb because Dak Prescott is not Patrick Mahomes
On Get Up, the crew discussed the situation the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in.
Former quarterback for the seven NFL teams Tim Hasselbeck believes the Cowboys have to pay Lamb because only Patrick Mahomes can be successful with ‘discounted rate’ receivers.
“Kansas City can do it because their quarterback is so good he’s making everybody better. They’re doing it (winning Super Bowls) with Mecole Hardman, MVS (Marquez Valdes-Scantling), and Kadarius Toney. They’re doing it with other guys because of their quarterback,” the former NFL player said via NFL on ESPN.
“So, if you’re these teams, the Dallas Cowboys, is Dak gonna do it (win a Super Bowl) with any other wide receiver we get at a discounted rate?”
Hasselbeck implies that Dak Prescott needs CeeDee Lamb as he does not have the talent to win Super Bowls with less productive receivers.
The Kansas City Chiefs have won consecutive rings without an established receiving core
In 2022, speedster Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins to become the most expensive wide receiver at the time.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost one of the hottest properties but have still managed to win successive Super Bowls.
Furthermore, Patrick Mahomes has been a generational talent to win rings with receiving cores consisting of Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, and MVS.
None of the Chiefs wide receivers, or Travis Kelce, finished with over 1,000 yards receiving in 2023.
Hasselbeck suggests they need to lockdown the long-term future of Lamb with Prescott because the team cannot afford to lose the receiver.
