The Dallas Cowboys off-season plans are still taking shape – but one team legend knows exactly what he wants.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones laid out an intention to go big this off-season with recent comments after deciding to stick by head coach Mike McCarthy.

His words were ‘all-in’, and star linebacker Micah Parsons has challenged him to stick by those words.

So as Free Agency begins to approach, talk is abuzz over who the Dallas Cowboys could seek to bring on board.

Michael Irvin wants Derrick Henry and Mike Evans

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl winning wide receiver Michael Irvin has two big names in mind, who the Cowboys should try to target.

He told Undisputed he would make a real run at trying to sign powerhouse running back Derrick Henry, who could be coming to the end of the road at the Tennessee Titans.

Irvin, known as The Playmaker, says Dallas can offer Henry a stage that he has never experienced in his career so far.

He said: “I want to bring the big fella in and ‘put a Star on your helmet and remind people of the star you once were.

“They said you can’t do it any more in Tennessee but in Dallas we will give you a stage and a light that shines brighter than anything than you have ever seen’.”

He made the point that he has barely heard Henry being discussed over the past year, and promises that would change if he became a Cowboy, the most talked about team in American sports.

Derrick Henry is one of three free agents we named in our assessment of potential signings for the Cowboys.

And that’s not it. Irvin wants an ambitious move for Super Bowl winning wide receiver Mike Evans too, who won the Lombardi with Tampa Bay.

He feels his experience combined with Henry’s hunger, would transform the Cowboys.

“I’d also like a guy that’s done it, to show them the way, if I look down the free agency list, it’s to get another big receiver like Mike Evans.

“Dak needs the big receiver, the space receiver. He doesn’t have a compliment to CeeDee.”

Can Dallas find a way to sign stars

Irvin admitted, when challenged, that Tampa Bay will likely fight hard to keep Mike Evans, and that it would be a very difficult deal to do.

He also accepted that money might be tight in Dallas, but believes the team’s prudent owner can find a way, and the challenge to play for the Cowboys can still be a temptation.

He said of discussions with Derrick Henry, it would have to be a compromise, along the lines of, “We can’t give you a lot of money, can you work with us.”

Discussing the franchise owner, he said: “Jerry knows how to work the cap. He can figure this out.

“I need some real players who can make a difference at crucial moments.”

Jerry Jones’ comments have raised expectations, in trying to lift the gloom in the wake of the team’s shocking play-off loss. Big names and difference makers are in demand, and Dallas fans are expecting signings.
