Micah Parsons is calling on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to put his money where his mouth is and bring in the missing pieces to this team.

His comments come days after Jones said he’s going all-in to ensure the Cowboys can get back to the Super Bowl sooner rather than later.

On his podcast, The Edge, Parsons had this say about the Cowboys boss and his win now declaration.

“I hope that we go all-in. I hope that we go out and get the players that we’re missing because we didn’t do that this year.

“I hope that we challenge ourselves, become better and become greater.”

What are the Cowboys’ “Missing Pieces”?

When you crash and burn the way Dallas did in the postseason, it’s difficult to pinpoint what this team is “missing”.

A simple answer may be that they need to learn from that experience and keep their composure in big moments.

That’s what the key pieces returning next season, such as Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Parsons must do.

However, for Jones and Mike McCarthy, some voids need filling.

Firstly McCarthy needs to find a new defensive coordinator, and they’re in that process as we speak, interviewing numerous candidates this week.

Offensively, there are mainly minor tweaks that need addressing.

One of the biggest issues is running the ball, as Tony Pollard wasn’t consistent throughout 2023.

McCarthy needs to figure out who fits their Texas Coast offense and whether or not Pollard should stay as a secondary option or get rid of him for a flashier, dependable back.

At receiver they could use an extra threat to compliment Brandin Cooks and Jake Ferguson.

Tyron Smith is an eight-time Pro Bowler but a pending free agent, and it might also be a good idea for Dallas to add a strong pass and run blocker.

Defensively, the biggest area that needs fixing is their dismal play against the run, while they finished with eight fewer sacks in 2023 (46) when compared to 2022.

Who could fill the void for the Cowboys in the offseason?

The Cowboys are likely to have the sixth-least cap space in 2024 per Over the Cap, so they’ll need to spend wisely.

Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley are all dependable backs who can carry a big load, with playoff experience and all hungry to play for a contending team.

Jaguars linebacker Josh Allen could complement Parsons in the linebacking corps, and he had a high 81.5 grade for run defense, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Frank Clark is another solid run-stopper whose stock isn’t nearly as high as Allen’s, and he’s got championship pedigree.

Danielle Hunter may be a way to kill two birds with one stone as he had a career-high in sacks (16.5) and tackles (83) this season, and is a solid run stopper, who’d be pricey but not nearly as much as the Chiefs Chris Jones.

Michael Pittman, Gabe Davis and Darnell Mooney are options at wide receiver and they can all shoulder the receiving load.

Jonah Williams and Mekhti Becton are both solid linemen, who would cost significantly less than Tyron Smith and still get the job done.

If Jones is truly “all-in”, than addressing these needs is necessary to get this team to the next level.
