If you follow domestic leagues like the English Premier League or any of those big five European competitions, you hear words like treble or quadruple tossed around often.
Treble and quadruple as in the number of trophies a club may win in a single campaign.
In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys have a good chance at an unprecedented number of individual NFL awards.
Cowboys in line for a Quad
We’re still weeks away from hearing some of the names on the list as nominees for the NFL Honors.
Heading into the 13th edition of the awards, numerous Cowboys deserve consideration.
In the history of the NFL Honors, there’s only been one time where the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year went to members of the same team in the same season.
Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley captured the awards on defense and offense, respectively, in the seventh edition of the honours in February 2018.
That year, the Rams won a treble with Sean McVay taking home the Coach of the Year Honors.
There’s a chance Dallas could exceed that in 2023, becoming the first team to capture four honors or more in the same season.
Let’s examine each Cowboy in the mix and their achievements this season.

Offensive Player Nominees
Dallas’s situation is somewhat unique because there’s a strong case that at least two players could be in line for individual awards on offense and defense.
Offensively the top contender for the Cowboys is probably still Dak Prescott.
His MVP chances took a hit last Sunday, but he’s still number two on that list, according to ESPN, behind Brock Purdy.
He has the third-highest completion percentage (68.8) and passer rating (104.0) and is second in TD passes (28).
Dak has a shot at MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, and he’d be the first player to do that in the same season since Patrick Mahomes in 2019.
A receiver has captured the Offensive Player of the Year trophy in three of the past four seasons, and CeeDee Lamb should be in the running.
Lamb is third in receiving yards (1,306), is second in catches among wideouts (103) while becoming the first NFL player to ever register at least 10 catches and 150 yards in three straight games.
Defensive Player Nominees
On the other side of the ball, two Cowboys should also receive plenty of consideration for Defensive Player of the Year.
In 2023, Micah Parsons has 46 tackles with 12.5 sacks while leading the league through Week 14 for QB pressures (78) and QB pressure rating with at least 250 snaps (20.3%).
DaRon Bland should be up there, too, leading the NFL in interceptions (eight) and setting an NFL single-season record for pick-sixes (five).
Coach of the Year
Early into the 2023 season, Mike McCarthy’s status as the Cowboys head coach beyond 2023 appeared doubtful.
With three regular-season games left, he not only appears to be in line for an extension but should be in the running for Coach of the Year.
Names like DeMeco Ryans and Shane Steichen could be ahead of him, but McCarthy shouldn’t be far behind.
The fact that McCarthy’s calling the offensive plays and overseeing everything deserves some accolades.
The offense is improving tremendously, third in points-per-game.
He’s also improved this team across the board and made gutsy coaching decisions that’ve paid off.
