CeeDee Lamb makes bold statement about how he ranks against other NFL wide receivers

One of the hottest receivers in the NFL is setting the record straight on exactly how good he is.

On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys put together another offensive explosion against the helpless New York Giants, winning 49-17.

Nearly all of the Cowboy receivers made a big play, including CeeDee Lamb, who’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Lamb led all players with 11 catches, with 151 yards receiving, second on the team Sunday behind Brandin Cooks (nine catches for 173 yards), while CeeDee had a rushing and receiving touchdown.

Over the past few weeks, Lamb has been sensational and beginning to put together a breakout campaign.

Bold Statement

In their victory on Sunday, Lamb set an NFL record that will be difficult to beat, becoming the first receiver in league history to have at least 10 catches for 150 yards or more in three consecutive games.

That was the fourth time he hit at least 150 yards through the air in a game for Dallas, surpassing Michael Irvin for the most in franchise history.

Lamb now has at least 100 receiving yards in four straight games, the longest stretch in his NFL career.

He didn’t mince words about his talent as a receiver on the team’s website.

“I’m the top receiver in this game,” Lamb said. “There’s no question about it. If there is, I’ll see you again next week.”

Next Sunday, Lamb can expect to face a stiffer challenge as they battle the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers are a league-worst 1-8, but there’s one bright spot about them right now.

That’s their secondary, who’ve allowed the fifth-fewest passing yards per game in the NFL.

His statement is eerily reminiscent, though perhaps with less hostility, of what a certain cornerback, Richard Sherman, once declared.

There’s no debating Lamb is on a hot streak right now, but is it sustainable? And how does he stack up to other receivers in the league?

How Lamb compares to other receivers

Even with everyone Dak Prescott involved on Sunday, from Cooks to Jake Ferguson, no one’s arguing Lamb being the main man in Dallas.

Statistically speaking, he’s a mile ahead of the other Cowboy pass-catchers in receiving yards (975) while also first in targets (86) and yards-per-catch (14.3).

That’s great for Mike McCarthy and company, but there are plenty of other outstanding receivers.

Lamb’s off-the-charts numbers of late have him third in the league for receiving yards behind AJ Brown (1,0005) and Tyreek Hill (1,076).

In 2022, Justin Jefferson deservedly won the Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Lamb has seven games of 100+ receiving yards in his career, all in the last two seasons, tied for the most such games since 2022 with Jefferson.

CeeDee has 617 receiving yards since Week Six, the most by a Cowboy player over a four-game stretch since at least 1970.

Hall of Famer Terrell Owens had 575 yards for Dallas from Week Seven to 11 in 2007.

With over 900 yards after nine games, Lamb is just the second Cowboy to hit that milestone so soon into a season.

Irvin did it as well in their Super Bowl-winning season in 1995 (11 catches, 1,603 yards and 10 TD grabs).

If the Cowboys can involve all their weapons the way they did versus New York, the sky’s the limit for Lamb this season.
