Michael Irvin thinks the Cowboys aren’t that far off the Eagles, and the result will be different when they host them at AT&T Stadium in December.
The Cowboys suffered a crushing defeat against NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9. Despite leading at halftime, fine margins and a matter of inches were the difference as the Eagles rallied to win 28-23.
However, despite the loss, which moves Dallas to 5-3 for the season, there’s still plenty of things to be optimistic about. CeeDee Lamb had a monster game, Dak proved he can hang with the big boys and the Cowboys defense largely contained Jalen Hurts and one of the league’s most potent offenses.

Michael Irvin makes ‘guarantee’ for Eagles rematch
Cowboys legend Michel Irvin is a glass half full kind of guy (he’s had to be cheerleading for the Cowboys in recent years).
Irvin appeared on FS1’s Undisputed following the loss, where he maintained the Cowboys are not that far off.
In fact, he thinks Dallas will win the rematch, which takes place in Arlington on December 10.
“What we saw is, no, Philly is not too much for Dallas,” Irvin said. “No, Philly’s not. Dallas, you are right there, and I guarantee you — I believe Dallas would win this game in Dallas. …
“Dallas will win the game in Dallas.”

Irvin lamented many of the ‘small things’ that went the way of the 8-1 Eagles. Chiefly, these were rookie tight end Luke Schoonmaker failing to reach the end zone on a late fourth-and-goal at the one-yard line that would have been the game-winning touchdown.
Moments later, Dak Prescott stepped out of bounds on a two-point conversion that would have made it 28-25, leaving the Cowboys with the chance to tie the game with a field goal.
Speaking about the play involving Schoonmaker, Irvin said: “That is where that game got lost. Right there. On a small little technicality. On small little things like that.”
Micah Parsons is also upbeat after loss
After the game, Micah Parsons echoed Irvin’s sentiments that the Cowboys can take a lot of positives despite the result.
“We know we played good enough to win that game,” Parsons said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “But we didn’t. That’s just how the dice rolls sometimes. Sometimes you play good enough and good enough isn’t good enough. That’s just the reality of the game. I feel like we have even more confidence now. I feel like everybody had us out and everyone was praising this Eagles team. Obviously, we gave them their best fit. I’m not even going to spit fuel on the fire. We’ll see them again in four weeks.”
Luckily the Cowboys will have the chance to get one back against the Eagles and close the gap on them in the NFC when they welcome Philly to AT&T Stadium in December.
