CeeDee Lamb sets improbable NFL and Cowboys record

Over the past few weeks, America’s Team have been lighting it up through the air, which continued on Sunday.

The Dallas Cowboys have put up over 250 passing yards in four consecutive games, blowing out the New York Giants for a second time this season, winning 49-17.

On Sunday, quarterback Dak Prescott had his way with the Giants secondary, and to be fair, he could have had a lot more even though he sat out most of the fourth quarter.

Mike McCarthy‘s Texas Coast Offense looked as good as we’ve seen all year this past weekend against, albeit a dismal defensive unit in New York.

Every one of their receiving weapons made an impact on Sunday, including Brandin Cooks, who easily had his best outing as a Cowboy, registering nine catches for 173 yards..

Once again, though, Cowboys standout receiver CeeDee Lamb was sensational.

Lamb Making History

It’s been no secret that Lamb was going to be the go-to receiver before the season began, but what the Louisiana native has achieved over these past few weeks has been off-the-charts exceptional.

Against the Giants this past weekend, the two-time Pro Bowler became the first player in NFL history to collect at least 10 catches for 150 yards or more in three straight games.

At times Lamb made it look effortless too, making a highlight-reel one-handed grab in the opening half on Sunday.

Lamb had 11 catches on the day for 151 yards with a TD grab, averaging 13.7 yards-per-catch.

And while he’s said before that he doesn’t like to run the ball, he got one carry out of the backfield too, racking up 12 yards and a rushing TD.

In Week Eight against the Rams, he became the first Cowboy player to have double-digits for catches (12), plus at least 150 yards through the air (158) and a pair of scores.

He followed that up with 11 grabs in a losing effort versus the Eagles for 191 yards, a career-best for him in a single game.

Secondaries being led to the slaughter

In numerous bible books, we read about a lamb innocently and helplessly slaughtered such as Isiah (53:7) and Jeremiah (11:19).

In the case of the Cowboys #88, though, he’s the one slaughtering innocent cornerbacks, leaving many in their wake.

With his outing on Sunday, Lamb put himself in the NFL record books and the Dallas ones as well while also setting some new career highs.

Lamb had at least 150 yards receiving in a game for the fourth time in his Cowboys career, surpassing the legendary Michael Irvin for the most in franchise history.

Meanwhile, he reached the century mark for receiving yards for a fourth consecutive game, his longest stretch over his NFL career.

What Lamb is doing right down is remarkable when looking at what other receivers have been able to do in recent memory.

Over the past 25 years, only three players have caught 10 passes with at least 150 yards in back-to-back games, including Brandon Marshall (2012), Keenan Allen (2017) and Mike Evans (2019).

Lamb’s numbers lately should have him in the conversation for Offensive Player of the Year and he should be in line to be a First-team All-Pro for the first time.
