The underwhelming offseason continues to crumble around the Dallas Cowboys after they are dealt another blow.
Apart from the addition of Eric Kendricks, there have been no free agency additions who were not on the 2023 roster.
Players leaving but not coming in
Cowboys fans have become alienated from the ‘all in’ claims that Jerry Jones made.
Moreover, the Dallas front office has managed to secure the returns of five players.
The latest is running back Rico Dowdle, inking a one-year deal worth $1.255 million.
As much as the reacquisition of Jourdan Lewis is positive, none of these are blockbuster signings.

So far in the offseason, America’s Team has lost an alarming 10 players to either free agency, cuts, or retirement.
Veteran defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins is the most recent addition to this growing list.
Hankins joins the Seahawks
Hankins landed in free agency and has been snatched up by the Seattle Seahawks.
However, there was a hope that he would be resigned to the roster after showing eager signs of returning.
In an interview with the Cowboys media team, Hankins stated he had ‘unfinished business’ in Dallas.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded the D-Lineman to the Cowboys for their sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He played 14 games in the 2023 regular season and their one playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.
Furthermore, the veteran has registered 403 tackles in his career with 224 of those being solos.
The Cowboys’ missed the opportunity
America’s Team is witnessing an exodus of players in the 2024 offseason, which would be fine if they are making regular additions.
Ultimately, it is just a one-way road out of Dallas at this point, with no sign of an influx of players.
Reports have said the Cowboys were confident of resigning Hankins.
Clearly, the Seahawks’ offer was far superior to Jerry Jones’.
Hankins had signed consecutive one-year extensions in the last three offseasons.
Dallas risked losing him to free agency and has now paid the price.
Who else is going to follow suit and jump ship?
