The Dallas Cowboys have made a good decision to resign their cornerback Jourdan Lewis to a fresh deal to keep him in Frisco.

After hearing radio silence from the Dallas headquarters in free agency, they have started making moves.

They resigned long snapper Trent Sieg and stole linebacker Eric Kendricks from the San Francisco 49ers.

And away they go

Now, Jourdan Lewis will be in the defensive backfield for America’s Team come the opening day.

Rumors emerged that Lewis could be reuniting with old defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in Washington.

Quinn has been awarded his second stint as head coach after signing a deal with the Commanders post-playoffs.

Lewis struggled to get regular first-team action in his first season as a rookie out of Michigan.

Now, he is one of the Dallas Cowboys’ top defensive playmakers in 2023.

Finishing the 2023 regular season with 52 tackles (36 solos), one interception, five pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.

Additionally, he battled back from a Lisfranc injury in 2022 which could have been career-ending.

Reloading the cornerback room

This did not faze the 29-year-old and had an exceptional 2023 season.

Furthermore, this is a really important signing as Trevon Diggs is recovering from his ACL injury.

Diggs missed the entire regular season after signing a five-year $97 million extension with America’s Team,

The incident occurred during a 1 on 1 drill in training camp – a devastating blow.

Cornerbacks Lewis and DaRon Bland stepped to the plate and combined for 150+ tackles and 15 interceptions.

Bland returned five of his picks for touchdowns.

Lewis will be playing in Dallas come the 2024 season and has a chance to earn a big contract.

He is currently on a one-year deal but has an opportunity to earn himself a further extension.

Lewis is still in his sporting prime and has many NFL years ahead of him, so the Cowboys were smart to resign the player.
