Jerry Jones has been under the microscope this offseason with his lack of action and the pressure is about to be turned up even higher.
The All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is pursuing a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
After being drafted in 2020, the Cowboys have one year remaining on the Lamb’s current deal.
His fifth-year first-round extension has been triggered and Lamb is set to earn $17.199 million, per Adam Schefter.
CeeDee Lamb forced to take action after no contract talks
However, the Cowboys have not approached Lamb to engage in any new contract talks.
The silence between both parties has forced the Dallas star to take action.
Lamb has refused to show up at The Star in Frisco for the franchise’s OTAs.

Yesterday was the start of the spring break workouts and the Lamb has refused to participate.
Therefore, he hopes to create leverage in his deal and start the negotiations.
Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News confirmed the receiver will not appear at any non-mandatory workouts until an extension is confirmed.
Eagles extension cranks up the pressure for Lamb’s new deal
If the pressure was not already heated because of Lamb, the Cowboys NFC East rivals have raised it further.
The Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed they have triggered Devonta Smith’s fifth-year clause and agreed a further 3-year extension through to 2028.
Smith will receive a new deal before CeeDee Lamb despite being drafted one year later.
Furthermore, the extension is worth $75 million with $51 million guaranteed, per Ian Rapoport.
Cowboys miss a big chance to set the receiver market
The Cowboys have been caught sleeping at the wheel by their rival and they have set the receiving market for this year.
In addition, wideout stars like Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) and Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) are expecting bumper new deals.
It is better for Lamb that Smith has set the price as he should expect more than his NFC East counterpart.
Ultimately, the Cowboys will now be forced to spend more to tie Lamb down to a fresh deal.
It seems like a common trend of kicking the can down the road for America’s Team with cornerstone players needing extensions.
