The Kansas City Chiefs have started their non-mandatory spring break workouts and one player has stated he is hopeful of a contract extension.

During the offseason, Brett Veach has been working hard to work out key extensions for valuable players.

Most notably, Chris Jones signed a historic five-year deal to make him the highest-paid defensive interior lineman of all time.

In addition, Mike Danna signed a brand new three-year deal to keep him in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill penned a three-season deal worth $19 million.

However, they have had to say goodbye to a key piece of the defensive back group.

L’Jarius Sneed was traded to the Tennessee Titans to recoup cap space which he would have consumed on the non-exclusive franchise tag.

There is another linebacker who will be fishing for a new deal with just one season remaining.

Nick Bolton says ‘staying here would be a blessing’ amid contract extension talks

Nick Bolton could be a free agent this time next year if the Chiefs cannot figure out a new deal.

The linebacker stated at the OTA yesterday that he is keen to remain in Missouri: “It definitely feels like home… staying here would be a blessing.

“It would be a dream come true if we could get that done in the foreseeable future.”

This was Bolton’s response when questioned about a possible contract extension with the Chiefs.

Since being drafted in 2021, the 24-year-old has been a key piece of Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive jigsaw.

In 2021, he was named in the PFWA All-Rookie Team and has registered 292 tackles throughout his three seasons.

Moreover, he logged 13 tackles in Super Bowl LVIII which led both teams and was crucial to winning successive rings.

Now, one year remains on his rookie deal out of Missouri, being a local college kid, it is easy to see why the Chiefs ‘feels like home’.

Ultimately, Veach will have to weigh up the financial viability of an extension.

In reality, Bolton could hit free agency next year and test the waters or the Chiefs may resign him then.

If Spagnuolo wants to keep him, which it seems he would, it would be hard to not extend the linebacker.
