The Kansas City Chiefs grabbed the headlines in Detroit with their late trade which added a deep-threat receiver for Patrick Mahomes.
Brett Veach did not rule out a trade on the opening night before the NFL Draft and he was right to do so.
Kansas City tempted the Buffalo Bills into a last-gasp trade that saw them leapfrog from #32 to #28.
Chiefs draft the fastest rookie in the Combine on a night tailored to offenses
Moreover, the fastest man in the Draft Xavier Worthy’s name was called by Roger Goodell as the Chiefs’ first pick in 2024.
Fearful that the Baltimore Ravens could be tempted into picking Worthy at #30, the Chiefs did not wait around to find out.

A record-breaking seven wide receivers were selected on a night that was heavily offense-focused.
Robert Griffin III’s prediction for the Chiefs, Xavier Legette, was not the preferred receiver and fell to the Carolina Panthers with the last choice.
Nonetheless, Chiefs Kingdom will be cheering on their player who stole the spotlight at the NFL Combine in March.
Worthy’s 4.21 40-yard dash pace will be a lethal weapon for Patrick Mahomes to utilize downfield.
Brett Veach lays out his one concern about Xavier Worthy as a rookie
However, Brett Veach has stated there is one concern surrounding Worthy as a wide receiver.
Chiefs reporter Charles Goldman shared what the General Manager stated about their new acquisition.
Goldman posted: “GM Brett Veach says the 175-180 pound mark is the ideal weight for new WR Xavier Worthy. Says he’ll work with the nutrition staff to get there. Currently listed at 165.”
There is a slight issue with Worthy’s reported weight and they will make it their mission to bulk him up.
Worthy must put 10-15lbs to meet the ‘ideal’ receiver weight
According to Veach’s numbers, the new Chief must put on between 10-15 pounds of size before suiting up for the 2024 season.
Veach, who signed a new long-term deal this week, confirmed that Worthy will work with a nutritionist.
This ideal weight will not be hard to reach as he will have access to the best health care and training in the world.
When he takes the field at Arrowhead Stadium on the opening day, Worthy should be expected to weigh close to 180lbs.
