It turns out Andy Reid and Taylor Swift’s dad go way back. The pair first crossed paths in Philadelphia, where the Kansas coach also first met a young Swift.

The biggest storyline to emerge from the NFL season so far – for better or worse – is Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s blossoming romance.

The pair set pulses racing when Swift attended the Chiefs’ dominant Week 3 win over the Chicago Bears. Swift revelled in the action alongside Kelce’s mom Donna in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium.

The pop megastar followed that up a week later by attending the Chiefs vs Broncos game. In the days since, Trav and Taylor have been spotted out together holding hands and even appeared (separately) on Saturday Night Live.

Andy Reid appears to be a fan of Kelce-Swift

The romance has split NFL fans down the middle, with some arguing that it’s overshadowing the actual football. However, one person who appears to be on board with the relationship is Chiefs coach Andy Reid.

After the win against the Bears, Reid joked that he’d actually set the pair up.

“You know what, I’ve met her before,” Reid said. “I set them up.”

This week, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb spoke with Reid on Outkick’s “The Five Spot” with Donovan McNabb. During the episode, Reid recalled meeting the pop icon for the first time, while also revealing that he and her dad go way back.

“I knew her from Philadelphia, ” he said. “You know, her dad is a big NFL fan.”

“I had met her when she was real young and her dad, and, so you know, I joked about setting Kelce up. … But, you know, but I’m just saying.

The KC coach also said he appreciated her enthusiasm at recent games.

“She’s a good girl. She’s into it, and we’re glad she’s here,” Reid added.

The singer is unfortunately an Eagles fan

Swift was born in in West Reading, Pennsylvania, and later moved with her family to the suburban town of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. In the past, Swift has revealed that she is a Philadelphia Eagles fan – where Reid was head coach from 1999 to 2012.

In 2020, Swift released a song called “Gold Rush” on her album “Evermore” that included a lyric about an Eagles t-shirt – although it was unclear if she meant the NFL team or the band of the same name.

However, at a concert at Lincoln Financial Field (the Eagles’ home stadium) this year, she confirmed it was indeed the NFL franchise she was referring to and that she was a fan of the team.

“I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate,” Swift said. “I have a lyric that says, ‘With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door.’ I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles, and I love the band the Eagles, but guys, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team.”

It’s unclear how or when Taylor and her dad first met the Kansas HC, but it’s likely it would have been at an Eagles game during Reid’s 13-year tenure there.

Who knew their paths would one day cross again, this time in Kansas City.
