After their win against the Broncos, Shannon Sharpe admitted he’s concerned for Mahomes and the Chiefs reliance on Travis Kelce.
The Chiefs beat the Broncos 19-8 in Week 6 of the NFL season. The Thursday Night Football victory means the reigning Super Bowl champions improved to 5-1 for the season.

Mahomes’ interceptions beginning to stack up
Patrick Mahomes passed for 306 yards and one touchdown in what was the Chiefs’ 16th straight win over their AFC West rivals.
However, the Chiefs’ end zone issues persisted, with the offense struggling to convert opportunities into touchdown. Kansas relied heavily on a taped up Travis Kelce, who caught 9 passes for 124 yards.
Mahomes, however, threw his fifth interception of the season, as turnovers continue to be an issue. He is on pace for 14 interceptions this season, which would be the most in a single season of his career so far.
Shannon Sharpe is concerned about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
Despite the win, First Take’s Shannon Sharpe said he is concerned for Mahomes and the Chiefs moving forward.
Specifically, Sharpe is worried about the Chiefs receivers’ inability to get open and their overreliance on Kelce.
“You boys gotta go get open”, he said. “Right now it’s a struggle for everyone to beat man coverage other than Travis Kelce.”
Sharpe added that eventually the receiver group are going to have to beat man coverage on a consistent basis, which at the moment is a struggle.
He continued: “Right now I’m a little concerned about their offense because they don’t have that one guy outside of Travis Kelce who can go do his thing without being schemed up.”

Mahomes praises Chiefs defense amid offensive struggles
Next up for the Chiefs are the 2-2 Chargers who face the Cowboys on Monday night.
Justin Herbert and the Chargers will provide a much sterner test than Russell Wilson and the Broncos. However, Mahomes is confident the Chiefs’ defense will be more than up to the task.
“Luckily for us, our defense is playing great, “he said after the Denver win. “We have guys that are starters on other teams that are trying to find a way on the football field, and when they get on the field, they’re making plays. And they’re playing with confidence.”
