It seems the Dallas Cowboys are satisfied with the current roster as it stands, as America’s Team made no moves before the trade deadline.
The deadline came and went on Tuesday, but evidently, owner Jerry Jones did not get a deal to his liking.
Last week, Jones said that if he was to make a trade, other general managers must reach out to him, but it appears nothing good came about.
By all reports, Dallas was supposed to be buyers, with numerous names being tossed around on both the offensive and defensive side, such as Zach Ertz, Derrick Henry and Patrick Surtain to name a few.
There was also a thought that the Cowboys might want to add a piece to its linebacking crew after Leighton Vander Esch went down with an injury earlier this season or in pass coverage following an injury to Trevon Diggs.

Dallas is currently middle of the pack when it comes to passing yards and offensive yards per game during the regular season, which left many people to believe they needed to make some big moves offensively to have a shot at the Super Bowl.
Defensively, it seemed like, if anything, they may add some insurance policies or rental pieces, with the Cowboys fourth in turnover differential (+6) while allowing the third-fewest yards-per-game heading into this weekend (287.4).
If it Aint Broke, Don’t Fix it
So why did Jerry Jones choose not to be active before the trade deadline passed?
There could be various reasons for doing nothing on Tuesday, a few days before they square off with the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles.
One school of thought could be that Dallas is in good shape, with a record of 5-2, and a chance to close the gap with Philly for the division lead on Sunday, as the Eagles are on top of the NFC East at 7-1.
Dak Prescott and the offense also just put up 387 yards and 43 points against the Rams, with the Cowboys, pivot tossing four TDs, which may suggest they are starting to gel through the air after a slow start to the year.
‘Unnecessary’
On Tuesday though, we got another take from the Dallas Morning News.
The local newspaper suggested that the Cowboys had already bolstered their roster enough heading into this season, and thus, more activity was unnecessary.
Dallas was active over the off-season, trading for Stephon Gilmore, Brandin Cooks and Trey Lance.
At the same time, they extended the contracts of Vander Esch, Diggs and inked Tony Pollard to a franchise tag, so perhaps adding more new faces would negatively impact the continuity within this team.
That being said, many contending teams made moves before the deadline passed, as the 49ers acquired pass rusher Chase Young, the Lions picked up receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, the Seahawks got Leonard Williams, and Philly picked up Kevin Bynard.
Whatever the reason behind the inactivity on the trade deadline, the Cowboys are headed in the right direction; winning three of their last four contests and tinkering with a good thing was obviously not worth whatever they’d have had to give up.
